A taser, a knife, and two "spring guns" (airsoft?).
During the time I spent in the dorms at TN Tech, I learned that you
don't open the door to your room and step out into the hallway. Instead,
you open the door, wait a few seconds, carefully peer left and right into
the hallway (trying not to fully expose your head), then enter the hallway
only after you have determined that there are no shuriken or throwing
knives likely to be flying by on their way to the target board at the end
of the hallway. The hallway was a little too narrow for a decent practice
space with nunchaku, so you only had to worry about the possibility of
waking up to find your roommate practicing with them, a few feet from
your head. Seems a bit odd that our dorm never made the news.

Well, this incident could be considered a 1st Amendment issue, since the
student was brought to the attention of the police for statements he had
made online.

OK, so we have a guy who was reported by an ROTC sergeant
for making what appeared to be threats on a website. Apparently,
when the police checked him out, they found a taser, a knife, and
two airsoft guns in his possession while on campus. They charged
him with having weapons on campus, and he was released after
posting $100 bail.

And then we have a guy who allegedly approached another student
and tried to recruit him to help in a plot to shoot up the college. His
home was searched, but authorities couldn't find any weapons or
plans, and have stated that they don't even know if the student was
serious about the plot. But just to be safe, the student has been
charged with making a terrorist threat, is being held in lieu of
$100,000 bail, and could be facing 15 years in prison.
