A Television Set Question

We have a large tv used in our living room. It's a six-year-old large screen
(either 32' or 36') that is doing something I've never seen.

Last night while trying to watch a video... it simply stopped working. No
picture. No sound. I thought it might be batteries in the remotes, but both
remotes work just fine and the battery light is strong.

I turned the set off... waited a few moments and turned it back on. Got
picture and sound for about three seconds, and poof... off it goes again.
So, I'm thinking maybe it's overheated from being on most of the day, so it
stayed off all last night, all day today and when I got home, I turned it on
just to see if it would work... same thing. Video and sound for about three
seconds and poof... nothing.

It's an analog set, and I'm really not in a position to upgrade to any kind
of HD set until I absolutely have to. I've lost count of the number of years
since I hauled a tv set to a repair shop, and really have no clue where one
is.

The question is two-fold. Does anyone know of a shop that troubleshoots and
repairs sets, and can one expect reasonable pricing for said service.

I had my 27" Sonia (no Balonia) Trini fixed at the shop on Charlotte's
Pike in the same center with the Vietnamese/Japanese restaurant (just
past the Krogers's' on the left) with little pain at a reasonable price.

Other than that, I cannot say.

Brown's Colonial T V Service
155 Gleaves St
Madison, TN 37115
(615) 868-5300

near Rivergate Mall

They've always done a good job for us. YMMV, of course. IIRC, they
charge a fee for checking out the set to let you know whether or not
it can be repaired. If it can, the fee is applied to the repair
cost.

The problem is obsolete parts. I'll forever mourn a Mitsubishi that
we had, absolutely beautiful picture. Brown's could have repaired it,
but the parts were no longer made. : (
