Jerry is obviously one of those folks that freely interpret the Constitution
and don't bother with what the Constitution actually says.

I checked it again just a minute ago, but I still don't see any provision of
the 2nd Amendment specifically granting guns solely to criminals, nor does
it mention anything about eliminating gun shows, gun shops, guns in
circulation, or itself.

The grass is always greener types would rather live in those wonderous
countries where people have no actual constitution of any kind, no rights,
the Gestapo or secret police have all the guns, and there are no civilian
guns, gun shows, or gun shops.

But I would bet anything that the criminals in any country an anti-gun type
would care to pick would have all the guns they could ever use.

Nonsense!

The Militia is described in Art 1(8)(15-16) and Art 2(2)(1) of the
body of the Constitution.

Clearly it is not Everybody.

There is a federal statute that tries to make it Everybody. It has
never been challenged because that Everybody thing has never been
called up and Will never be called up.

There are several State "militia" organizations, but those are allowed
by federal statute. The Constitution itself is silent about them.

There are some rump groups that call themselves militias, but they
have neither constitutional nor statutory standing.

The National Guard is a select militia - while it is certainly a part of
the militia, it is not all of the militia. The "unorganized militia" of
10USC311 is also a part of the militia, as are the various state
organizations. (22 states maintain their own militia units not
affiliated with the National Guard, variously called the State Guard, the
State Militia, or the Home Guard.)

If the National Guard truly were the only militia organization, we would
have a Constitutional problem, because SCOTUS ruled in Perpich v. DOD
that the federal government may call up a National Guard unit for
overseas training in peacetime, and the Constitution gives the feds the
authority to call up the militia only for domestic purposes - to repel
invasion, suppress insurrection, and to execute the laws of the Union.

It is the entirety of the Militia recognized in the Constitution. No
other is recognized there.

Those are Statutory, not Constitutional. They are optional, not
required.

All the Congress has to do is repeal the statute, and those disappear
altogether.
