I think it was CNN that interviewed the cop. He would only do one
interview, to "tell his side of the story" and he really did a piss-poor
job of it.

If I were one of her handlers, I'd say she recommended him for the job
because he seemed qualified, and he was hired because the hiring
managers seemed to agree. It turned out it wasn't a great decision.

The fact that he was an inlaw brings up possible nepotism talk, and to
this I'd point out that small town Alaska ain't exactly New York City;
with a population in the thousands there's a small pool of eligible
applicants and radically higher likelihood that everybody knows everybody.

She should offer full cooperation. 'Course, the more people are fixated
on that, the less time they'll have before the election to focus on more
substantial matters. It would be a great diversion tactic if on November
2 the media had to admit there was absolutely nothing to the story.
