whoa.............what kind of state of denial are you in?
Do you not see that the New Republican Party is a carefully stitiched
coalition consisting of the greediest among us, the bigots, the
racists, the intolerant, the religious right..all for the benefet of
the military-industrial complex and the wealthiest 2%%?
That every single public appearance by G W Bush since 2000 has been a
screened event so he can speak to the choir and not be accountable for
his incompetence....and the mainstream media let him get away with
it?
Are you happy that the NRA spent your dues (but mostly arms
manufacturers money) to elect not for one term but two a known
masculinity challenged, AWOL chickenhawk, born again alcholic liar,
failed businessman and oil puppeteer....the cheerleader from Yale?
I am proud to defend my country. I am not proud of fighting in a war
of choice for oil and hubris. Or a war run by Likud Jews that what
to protect Israel at all costs, at the USA expense.

I seem to remember John Kerry running an ad that said that if I wanted to
know what kind of man he was, I should listen to the men who had served
with him. It was Kerry himself who created the issue.
As for Obama, his problems with gun owners are of his own creation.
http://www.icadp.org/page236.html
Each candidate supported closing loopholes that allow gun shows to sell
weapons to unauthorized buyers. Each also advocated the renewal of a
federal ban on the sale of assault weapons, which expires in September.
Obama, however, called for a host of new gun-control measures:
strengthening the assault-weapons ban to include high-capacity clips made
prior to 1994; holding parents criminally responsible for children who
injure someone with a gun found in the home; placing trigger locks on all
guns; and allowing gun buyers to purchase only one weapon per month.
Hynes advocated increasing penalties for crimes committed with a gun, and
Hull would increase funding to update technology that provides instant
background checks on gun buyers.

But you didn't listen to the men "who had served with him."

When he ran that ad, he showed a photograph of himself standing with a
group of sailors. A number of the sailors in the photo asked him to stop
using the photo, because it made it appear that they supported Kerry. He
refused.

Arming with Arguments
Let's pick something uncontroversial. Hmmm, how about handguns? I believe
in a right to own a gun. The Founding Fathers surely believed in the
right to own a gun. For example, I once heard Robert Goldwin, a
constitutional scholar (and author of my favorite essay on the
constitution "Why Blacks, Women, and Jews Are Not Mentioned in the
Constitution") explain that no matter what you think of the meaning or
intent of the Second Amendment, there's no doubt that the Founders
assumed that people would have the right to own a gun in much the same
way we each have a right to own a dog. At minimum, guns were property,
useful property. And the right to own private property is a big chunk of
the whole Lockean ballgame (to mix a metaphor with brutal disregard).
