State Rep. Phyllis Kahn, a democrate from Minneapolis, is proposing a
new 6.5%% sales tax for cosmetic surgery and some non-surgical
procedures. If her bill is passed, people have to pay more for botox
injection, laser hair removal, chemical peels, liposuction, etc. Most of
these procedures are meant to enhance a person's appearance and quality
of life.

Most people who seek these treatments are women with average income of
$60,000. Kahn estimated this new sales tax will bring in about $7
millions a year. New Jersey is the only state that has such a sales tax.
Is this another way of taxing the rich or is it a fair deal?
