Because there are those among us that like to discuss politics.

So what?
> Please take your political discussions there.

Let me ask you a question; If I knocked on the door of your home, and
told you what to discuss in your home, would you respond favorably, or
would you demand me to leave?

Don't step in here and tell people what to do. There are many here who
have been around in here for years, and we discuss whatever we want to.

We are truckers with a life outside of trucking, for the most part.

You are free to start a thread on any subject you choose, including that
which pertains to trucking. You equally free to completely ignore any
other thread that exists that is not to your liking.

"Sweep of polygamists' kids raises legal questions

Apr 25, 2008
SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - The state of Texas made a damning accusation
when it rounded up 462 children at a polygamous sect's ranch: The
adults are forcing teenage girls into marriage and sex, creating a
culture so poisonous that none should be allowed to keep their
children.

But the broad sweep - from nursing infants to teenagers - is raising
constitutional questions, even in a state where authorities have wide
latitude for taking a family's children.

The move has the appearance of "a class-action child removal," said
Jessica Dixon, director of the child advocacy center at Southern
Methodist University's law school in Dallas.

"I've never heard of anything like that," she said.

"Food Crisis Starts Eclipsing Climate Change Worries
Gore Ducks, as a Backlash Builds Against Biofuels

The New York Sun | April 25, 2008

The campaign against climate change could be set back by the global
food crisis, as foreign populations turn against measures to use
foodstuffs as substitutes for fossil fuels.

With prices for rice, wheat, and corn soaring, food-related unrest has
broken out in places such as Haiti, Indonesia, and Afghanistan.
Several countries have blocked the export of grain. There is even talk
that governments could fall if they cannot bring food costs down.

One factor being blamed for the price hikes is the use of government
subsidies to promote the use of corn for ethanol production. An
estimated 30%% of America’s corn crop now goes to fuel, not food.

A study by a Washington think tank, the International Food Policy
Research Institute, indicated that between a quarter and a third of
the recent hike in commodities prices is attributable to biofuels.

  Missed 2 tornados today

Author: The Honorable Dr. Rocky Roads Presiding Judge

There should be news about the tornados that this area had today on
http://kwqc.com .

I was so close to one of the tornados in this area I made some calls
to figure out how to park my truck to avoid getting blown over.

To make a long story short if you ever have to park your truck to
brace for a tornado make sure you park it in such a way you get a good
view of the approaching weather. :-)

"Greenpeace founder now backs nuclear power

04/24/08
Idaho Statesman

Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore says there is no proof global warming
is caused by humans, but it is likely enough that the world should
turn to nuclear power - a concept tied closely to the underground
nuclear testing his former environmental group formed to oppose.

The chemistry of the atmosphere is changing, and there is a high-
enough risk that "true believers" like Al Gore are right that world
economies need to wean themselves off fossil fuels to reduce
greenhouse gases, he said.""
