Recently the law was passed that will send out checks to stimulate the
economy. Those checks probably won't even begin to be shipped until May,
maybe June. Regardless of whether you think the checks will help the
economy or only hurt in the long run, one thing is being mentioned by
several of the sources I monitor for such info. If you, or someone you
know, is in the habit of not filing a federal income tax return, maybe their
income is low or they always get back a small refund and the law doesn't
require they file a tax return, if you want that check from the US Treasury
you must file a 2007 tax return. If you don't file a tax return for tax
year 2007 you won't be receiving a stimulous package check in the mail.
Many retirees collecting Social Security don't file tax returns because they
have little or no earned income and perhaps no other income but Soc. Sec.
They may not be required to file federal tax returns...
