  OT: A woman for president!

Author: gringo

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large raging,
violent river.

Needing to get to the other side, the first man prayed: 'God, please give
me the strength to cross the river.'

Poof!.....God gave him big arms and strong legs and he was able to swim
across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice.

After witnessing that, the second man prayed: 'God, please give me the
strength and the tools to cross the river.'

Poof!......God gave him a rowboat, strong arms & strong legs & he was able
to row across in about an hour after almost capsizing once.

Seeing what happened to the first 2 men, the third man prayed: 'God, please
give me the strength, the tools & the intelligence to cross the river.'

Poof!.....He was turned into a woman. She checked the map, hiked two
hundred yards upstream and walked across the bridge.

  Weight Limit WHAT???

Ok, a few days ago, I'm driving through Indiana somewhere. In spite of GPS
telling me where to go, I somehow made a wrong turn. Yeah, if I was paying
closer attention, I might have known where I got lost. (!) But anyway, GPS
working frantically to get me back on course tells me to turn left, I look
to the left and see a sign posted on the road where GPS wants me to turn:

"Weight Limit 8T
February 1st to
March 31st"

Anybody care to take a guess at that one? I'm stumped. -Dave

Saturday night heading up I-65 north of Lebanon,In on my way to
Chicago the wind really started to pick up 30+mph and I passed 3 Swift
trucks parked on the shoulder Mind you traveling north with the wind
comming from the west Im willing to bet that they ran out of fuel on
the draw (driver side) of the tank. Swift plans out drivers trips and
tell them where they are going to fuel. 2+2 and 3 trucks from the same
company parked on the side.

On another note I noticed quite a few trucks running extremely slow
sunday morning due to gelling fuel. C'mon drivers dont ya check the
weather report?Temps in the below 0 range and a 3o below ZERO wind
chill and no fuel additive. I hate to see people freeze but W.T.F. If
you are going to make a living on the road I would think youd want to
use your head or atleast ask questions.

I guess teach them how to keep it between the lines and send them
down the road!!!!

The "New Colorado Chain Law" went into effect last September.

I posted links to the story about it not too long ago. It seems
someone was upset about too many wrecks in the snow.

I see where Colorado has put up chain-up warning signs on I-70 just West of
Limon now & they've built a designated area along the shoulder for chaining
up. They've also done the same thing for the Eastbound going East out of
Denver. Is there a new law that covers this area now or one coming in the
future?

What a wreck it looks like 12 cars were involved in a wreck without
any snow.

And no I was not watching TV while driving.

More at:

BTW they just said it looks like 10 race cars are left in the race.

68-Vehicle Crash Kills 1, Injures Dozens

HAZLETON, Pa. (Feb. 10) - A blinding snow squall caused a 68-vehicle pileup
on an interstate highway in northeastern Pennsylvania, killing at least one
motorist and injuring several dozen, authorities said.

The snow led to the mid-afternoon pileup on Interstate 81. Northbound lanes
were shut down and motorists detoured.

A woman died when her car became wedged underneath a tractor-trailer, said
Lt. Jason Zoshak of Hazleton Township Fire and Rescue. About 35 people were
injured. And at least 24 people whose cars were not drivable were placed in
shelters.

"They had a heavy snow squall going through the area, zero visibility, high
winds," he said. "There were vehicles everywhere."

Eighteen people were taken to Hazleton General Hospital, where most were
being treated for minor injuries. Nursing supervisor Monica Link said she
does not know whether any will be admitted.

Well, we spent a few hours, waiting to
see if the fire that started,In Suffolk,Va
spread to Currituck, and closer.

Don't mind during the day if we see
something happening, but during those
hours you go to bed,,,and find everything
in flames,

We are lucky, it was reported late last
night that the fire started in Suffolk,
Va, in wooded area, had spred to
Currituck, and Gates County, (boy
am I the lucky one,,,yup, Gates Cty
is my home),,,and hubby was tired,
and went to sleep, we got home
about 8:00p.m after being on the
road all day, me, I sat and looked
out the windows to see it the fire
was getting closer,

  OT: Verizon vs. Sprint

Well, this post might not really be off-topic since there are a lot of
drivers out there with wireless internet.

To start with EV-DO refers to the high-speed wireless internet used by both
Verizon and Sprint.

This comparison at dslreports fully supports what I have been saying about
Sprint but I've never seen any "glitches in billing" with Sprint.

I saw "glitches in billing" with Verizon and that it why I ended up leaving
them years ago. The specifics to what Verizon did was they started charging
me for things I'd never been charged for before like enhanced voice mail or
text messaging.

BTW Verizon gave me free text messaging because I was
helping them get bugs worked out of their system and then when they started
charging me text messaging I'd had enough of them.

Now for the information on dslreports.com about EV-DO.
