2 SoCal freeway shootings, 1 fatal By JACOB ADELMAN, Associated Press
Writer

Police said Monday they do not believe the weekend death of a motorist
was connected to a monthlong-string of Southern California freeway
shootings.

The latest shooting occurred Sunday along the 101 Freeway in the San
Fernando Valley, where police found driver Mario Gordillo Sical, 20,
in a crashed sedan with a gunshot wound to his head.

Police Officer Sara Faden said authorities were investigating the
shooting but did not think it was connected to any previous cases.

The shootings have made some drivers concerned about road rage.

"I have to be careful, maybe not cut in line. Or if someone does
something, I shouldn't honk my horn," Lize Park, 50, said at a gas
station near a 101 Freeway off-ramp.

Father of Negro Williams Sisters Calls White Players 'Trash'

Author: Sal

Williams calls Chris Evert and Tracy Austin "white trash"

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP)-WTA head Larry Scott said Thursday that
he strongly disagrees with comments made by Richard Williams,
father of Serena and Venus, regarding racism on the women's tour.

Saying he was disappointed by Williams' recent remarks during an
interview in India, Scott said in a statement: "The Tour has a
zero tolerance policy when it comes to racism, and I have
previously let Mr. Williams know that he should let me know if he
ever had evidence of racist comments or acts in women's
professional tennis."

While his daughters were playing earlier this month in
Bangladore, India, where Venus reached the quarterfinals and
Serena won the title, Williams told the Deccan Herald, "Well, I'm
black and I'm prejudiced, very prejudiced. People are prejudiced
in tennis. I don't think Venus or Serena was ever accepted by
tennis. They never will be."

In case there are still non-believers, here is the next step in
making sure you are where you're supposed to be.

To defeat this devious 'feature' you must kill the power.
Not just turn the phone off but disconnect the battery.

In some phones the battery terminals may be blocked with
a thin piece of non-conducting material leaving the battery
in place. Or, you can go into the phone case and wire an
external switch between the battery terminals and the circuit.

Private Profits for Banks, Socialized Losses for You.

On the Brink
http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/28/news/economy/disaster_sloan.fortune/index2.htm

How you'll pay

Still with me? Good. Now let me show you how we taxpayers are picking
up the tab for much of this rescue mission to the markets - even
though Uncle Sam isn't sending checks to Wall Street. Here's the math.
Say the Fed extends $500 billion of emergency loans to firms in need
of short-term money. They're paying around 2.5%% interest to Uncle Ben
(or Uncle Sam, if you prefer). That rate is way below what they'd pay
to borrow in the open market, if they could borrow. The difference
between the open-market price and 2.5%% is a gift from us, the
taxpayers.

I think that's better than letting the world financial system collapse
- but it's a serious subsidy to outfits that made a lot of money on
the way up and that are now whining about losses. You gotta love it -
private profits, socialized losses.

Question: Is denouncing NAZI literature as
"fascist" and "inciting people to murder" ...
"clearly crass and self-serving exercises that
pay lip service to the idea of freedom of
speech while being little more than vehicles
for xenophobia?"

Mechanical mathematician for solar parabolic cooker construction.

Author: brian
Date: Mar 31, 2008 14:34

http://www.appropedia.org/Image:Cobmould.JPG shows my latest mechanical
mathematician. It is better than previous ones because it is more rigid
(the arm rests on a horisontal cross piece on the mould) and you do not
make a full dish.
A full dish means you have to lean in close to the
burning hot centre to reach your food.
This one (a section of a dish) allows both tracking to cook or accumulate
heat all day and a table at 3 ft high or so to protect the user from stray
heat or light. A much better situation.
My mould is made of cob and it is currently drying. I will be putting
cardboard or plastic sheet down on the mould and cutting out parts to get
the right shape to fit the mould snugly and then adding a layer of kitchen
foil.
Hopefully some of you will try it.

  Forced into a government camp?

Author: Jeff McCann
Date: Mar 31, 2008 07:28

How may people here feel that being forced into a government camp is a
realistic risk, given something like the following scenario?

1. An unprecedented series of natural disasters strike your entire
region, e.g., several category 5 hurricanes or several 7+ Richter Scale
earthquakes.

2. A series of terrorist attacks with dirty bombs, chemical releases, or
the like strike cities all over your region.

Assume that the remainder of the country is not directly affected and
the governments in Washington, D.C. and your state Capitol are up and
running more or less normally.

Further assume your general part of town is not at risk from any
chemical, radiological or other looming threat requiring emergency mass
evacuation but is generally just damaged and without water, power, etc.
You, however, have your supplies and simply prefer to stay at home, or
plan to pack up and evacuate to your pre-planned location outside the
disaster area or your own.

Do you suppose you will be required to relocate to a government refugee
camp and not be allowed to leave, or be prevented from leaving the area
by foot, bike car a whatever, on you own?
