Only in allaah's opinion, not in the opinion of God, Jesus Christ,
Buda or a host of other religious gods (notice I did not even
capitalize the name allaah as he is insiginificant in the universe) .

The world will soon come to realize that Islam and the rest of the
world are not compatible and the rest of the world will win.

Argentine ex-army chief on trial

An ex-army officer viewed by Argentine human rights activists as a
prime example of the military's cruel rule in the 1970s and 1980s has
gone on trial.

Luciano Benjamin Menendez, 80, and seven other former army officers,
are accused of kidnapping, torturing and killing four left-wing
activists.

Prosecutors say the victims were dumped in the street to make it look
like they died in a shootout with officials.

It is the first big human rights trial to be held in the city of
Cordoba.

Most human rights cases to date have been tried in Buenos Aires and
the surrounding area. Luciano Benjamin Menendez, who reached the rank
of general, was one of Argentina's most feared army officers during
military rule between 1976 and 1983.

He commanded the regional Third Army Corps for five years in the
northern city of Cordoba.

Boy's death proves Opal fuel not safe to sniff
Natasha Robinson | May 13, 2008

OPAL fuel should no longer be advertised as non-sniffable, the
Northern Territory Coroner warned yesterday, after finding a boy died
after sniffing the supposedly safe petrol at a remote central
Australian community.

Kenny Burns, 12, suffocated after sniffing Opal fuel for about 10
minutes after a disco at Hermannsburg, Coroner Greg Cavanagh said in
his report, delivered yesterday.

The boy, a regular petrol sniffer who had been responding well to
social workers' attempts to steer him away from the habit, had been
sniffing Opal with his 15-year-old cousin, who watched him fall
backwards and begin to suffocate after inhaling the volatile fumes.

Teenager Glenda Booth told the inquest her cousin, also known as Kenny
Malthouse, had fallen backwards and had trouble breathing after
inhaling Opal fuel from a plastic bottle some time after 11pm on April
13, 2007.

Aborigines get a slice of worklife

Aborigines get a slice of worklife
Paul Toohey | May 28, 2008

DEALING with Aborigines who have not known regular work for 35 years
has been telling on watermelon and pumpkin farmer Paul McLaughlin.

Mr McLaughlin, who is in the middle of harvesting his 30ha of crops in
the Northern Territory heartland, has had to use backpackers and
import workers from his other property at Condobolin, NSW, even though
there is a sizeable population of able-bodied Aborigines living 8km
away at the Ali Curung community.

He would prefer local workers, but said the issue with Aborigines was
the discipline of getting up in the morning and going to work.

But he believes there will come a time when his seasonal workers are
local Aborigines.

"The Aboriginal labour is there," Mr McLaughlin said. "But these
people haven't had permanent work for 35 years. If you've grown up and
haven't seen your parents going off to work every day, then it's a
foreign thing to turn up to work."

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher, who has
given us freedom of religion.

It is the
VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the
VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
