3 killed in Ga. hospital shooting spree
By KATE BRUMBACK,
Associated Press Writer Thu Mar 27, 2008.
COLUMBUS, Ga. - A retired teacher bearing a grudge over his mother's
treatment at the hospital where she died fatally shot one of her
nurses, another employee and a man outside Thursday before police shot
him, authorities said.
Charles Johnston, 63, is being charged with murder and will be turned
over to police after an overnight stay in another hospital, where he
was treated for a shoulder wound, Police Chief Ricky Boren said.
The chief said the gunman arrived at Doctors Hospital with three
pistols, including a 9mm automatic and a .38-caliber revolver, and
went to the fifth-floor intensive care unit where his mother had been
in 2004.
"He blamed a male nurse. He didn't think his mother had been properly
cared for," Boren said.
Boren gave the following account:

Remember the Christmas of 2007 that wasn't?
It looks like we are in for a tougher 2008 than anyone would have
expected.
Got that extra case of beans yet?

Economy nearly stalled in 4th quarter By JEANNINE AVERSA, AP Economics

The economy nearly sputtered out at the end of the year and probably
is faring even worse now amid continuing housing, credit and financial
woes.
The Commerce Department reported Thursday that the gross domestic
product, or GDP, increased at a feeble 0.6 percent annual rate from
October through December. The reading, unchanged from a previous
estimate a month ago, provided stark evidence of just how much the
economy has weakened. In the previous three months, the economy had a
sizzling 4.9 percent growth rate.
The GDP measures the value of all goods and services produced in the
United States and is the best barometer of economic health.

Okay...Bush wants his nukes back.
Anyone have a nuke in the basement that they want to admit to?
If so, now is the time.
George will give you a gold star and a pat on the head for returning
it.

Gates orders inventory of US nukes By LOLITA C. BALDOR, Associated
Press Writer
Defense Secretary Robert Gates has ordered a full inventory of all
nuclear weapons and related materials after the mistaken delivery of
ballistic missile fuses to Taiwan, the Pentagon said Thursday.
Gates told officials with the Air Force, Navy and Defense Logistics
Agency to assess inventory control procedures for the materials and to
submit a report within 60 days.
Earlier this week, Gates directed Navy Adm. Kirkland H. Donald to take
charge of a full investigation of the delivery mistake in which four
cone-shaped electrical fuses used in intercontinental ballistic
missile warheads were shipped to the Taiwanese instead of the
helicopter batteries they had ordered.

Hmm...maybe I need to start a invesment firm...TMT Inc....and get a
piece of this Republican action?
Who knows...maybe a billion or two would come in handy the next time
Enco has a sale.
Of course keeping the taxpayer's best interest in mind I would use
the
free shipping option of the month.

Well times are tough at TMT Inc.....a billion just doesn't go as far
under Bush as it did under Clinton.
Looks like TMT Inc. will be needing a government bailout....a BIG one.
Now it seems that if the CEO of TMT Inc. promises that the bailout
will only be used to buy Chinese tools from Bush authorized factories
using lead paint we can all the money we want.
Damn...that will limit the selection to only 99%% of the manufacturers
but we can counter that by asking for 500%% more than we actually
need....like our good friends at Halibuton do...thanks for the tip
Dick...being practicing your aim lately?
Wish us good luck...we should have that bailout money in our offshore
accounts before the Presidental elections (they are very busy right
now moving lots of Republican money from someone with the initials
GWB) so we should be able to make it to the ranch to clear bush with
the best of them.
Oh yeah...now what was that free shipping code for Enco for this
month?

Wall Street drives White House campaign cash flow By Kevin Drawbaugh
2 hours, 23 minutes ago
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Eight of the 10 largest donors so far to the
U.S. presidential campaigns are Wall Street banks, led by Goldman
Sachs, according to research on Thursday from a political watchdog
group.

Goldman and its executives have pumped $1.7 million into the races,
with 70 percent going to Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton,
despite former CEO Henry Paulson's present job as treasury secretary
for the Republican Bush administration.
The Center for Responsive Politics said that securities and investment
firms altogether have donated about $33 million to presidential
campaign coffers, more than any other sector of corporate America,
except lawyers, the center said.
