Visitor visas are for non-immigrants. This person has filed paperwork
and paid money to indicate that they want to be an immigrant. The OP is
concerned about the status of their I-485 if they depart/reenter. They
are most definitely an intending immigrant and ineligible for entry as a
non-immigrant with a visitor visa. They may also have a problem with
when they filed the I-485. Even a one-day overstay will have voided the
visa. They shouldn't leave and expect to get back in without an I-512.

Okay, first I realize you are responding to someone who is looking to
pick a fight, but since you answered him, I'm going to answer you.
First of all, you were not convicted of a petty offence. Your offence
included a firearm, which would result in your being banned from
Australia, England, and Canada. Yes, in Canada we do have a
rehabilitation act, but first, they have to approve it. That will
probably cost you $1000 because of the nature of your offence. They
don't have to approve it, but they might... that's between you and
them.

In Florida perhaps! Up in this neck of the woods, cousins are as close
as, say... husband and wife! :) A few miles down the road, cousins are
as close as brother and sister... but folks in this area don't much talk
about that!

Hi,
Myself and my family (wife,4 kids) are considering a move to the
states,my cousin and his family live there (florida) and i wanted to
know if that would make any difference to the application
(easier, faster etc??).Also do the individual states have varying rules
regarding immigration (like canada for example) or is it the same all
over the US? Thanks:)

| Yea but deporting/refusing people who committed petty theft 20 years
ago...
| I think the US should just go and say "we dont want any LEGAL immigrants,
we
| just encourage illegal immigration" (because being caught in the USA
| illegally after being refused entry is a criminal act while being in the
USA
| illegally without even trying, as in sneaked across the border without
| applying for anything, is not a crime..)
|
|
So tell us how YOUR country's law deal with people in a similar situation?
Are criminals accepted wholeheartedly in YOUR country's immigration law? If
that is so, why are YOU insisting to be in the USA where immigration law is
so cruel to YOU?
It's better for criminals like yourself...

| Everything in america is a lie, a scam, or a conspiracy.

Most likely those liars, scammers and conspirators include you, your
parents, brothers and sisters, and friends! How do you solve that if you
yourself is the problem?

I came to US on an F-1 visa in 2004. I was in Wolverhampton UK, where I
lived and studied before coming to the US. One year later I met my wife
through an online dating website. We dated for 6 months and decided to
get married in December 2005. She was a US citizen. I applied my I-485
(AOS) in March 2006. All the information for filing I-485 & I-130 was
available on the USCIS website. Everything you would ever need
(documents and other info) is on the website. Frankly paying any lawyer
or agents etc. is a waste of money. Having basic common sense of
immigration law is all that is required to apply for AOS. I send out my
application (entire I-485 packet includes I-130, Biographic forms for
me and my wife, medical forms and financial support forms) to the
Chicago locker box address. I-130 and financial support forms had to be
signed by my wife. I did not file for EA (Employment Authorization) and
AP (advance parole) to travel.
Within 14 days of sending out my entire application for AOS I received
2 letters 1 each for I-485 addressed to me and I-130 addressed to my
wife stating the case number and the time it would take to process the
case. Up to 180 day for I-485 & 90 to 120 days for I-130. I think from
Chicago locker box the application went to National Benefits Centre/
Missouri Service Centre. Then the long wait started it was more then 6 ...

Anything involving Pres. Bush has to be a burlesque because it is
inconceivable that anyone can be that dumb and sinister at the same time.
