I just got my divorce after 3 years of separation(I have court papers
that prove that). Last year, my family arranged my wedding with a girl
from Pakistan. We had our formal engagement last year as well. My son
is in my care. He has met my fiance and knows her very, very well but
not as my fiance. My fiance is a college graduate and speaks fluent
English. Our families have close ties for the last 5-6 years.
Need some advice on how to take things from here. Now that I have my
divorce, I would like to marry my fiance as soon as possible. I am
caught between the idea of doing a proxy wedding over the phone and
going over there for a one week trip. I can't go there for longer
period because of my son's school, access visits and of course, my job
here. I am also not planning to take my son to the wedding.
Other than the small scale engagement pics, I have been constantly in
contact with my fiance over phone especially during the period of last
few months. We have exchanged a few emails as well and some greeting
cards.
What should be my strategy that would speed up the process and reduce
the chances of interview/rejection?
I will appreciate all your feedback and help.

Thanks for the information on my previous post.
What is the difference between TRV and Visitor's Visa? I, a Canadian
Citizen, plan to bring my future wife (to get married soon) to Canada
from Nepal. Since the standard sponsor process takes sometime, I plan
to apply for TRV or VV, whichever is more suitable for our case.
Would travelling to New Delhi together with all the required documents
be helpful? Is it possible to talk to immigration officers and find
out which visa is more suitable for us?
thanks for the info,
raj

Hello all.
How long does it take to sponsor a spouse from Nepal (Delhi
Immigration Post) via the standard process of applying to Missuagua ON
and then sending application to Delhi?
I will appreciate your information.
thanks,
raj

Hello all,
I am a Canadian citizen and plan to marry a woman from Nepal soon. I
want to take my wife to Canada asap. So would it be a good idea to
apply for a tourist visa or follow the standard process of immigration
for my (future) wife after i get married? Will applying for the
tourist visa jeopardise the standard immigration process later.
I will apprecite your thoughts.
Thanks,
raj

Hello everyone.
First of all, has anyone received a police certificate from the RCMP
lately (the regular paper-based one)? How long did it take and were
you inside or outside Canada? And is there anyway this process can be
expedited from outside Canada (electronic fingerprints are not
available outside Canada).
Secondly, isn't it quite odd for the officer to ask for a police
certificate from the RCMP for a student visa? I was in Canada before,
but can't the embassy do it itself much faster if they have my full
original fingerprints on a foreign police certificate already?
Many thanks.

Hi all,
I attended an interview on thursday for in-canada PR under the spousal class
(common-law). I got a letter today (Monday) saying that I meet elegibility
requirements, along with a second letter stating that my gf is approved to
sponsor me. It says I can apply for a work or study permit if I don't
already have one, so does that mean I have approval in priciple ? The
letter doesn't use that term anywhere and just says work permit, not open
work permit.
If this is AIP do I need anything to else to apply for OHIP, SIN, and Open
Work Permit ? Also, it says a final decision won't be made until medical
results and background checks are passed... but I sent both of these in with
my application.. (official recipt stating I completed medicals, and a police
certificate from the Australian Federal Police)... are they likely to make
me re-do the medicals ? (they didn't send any forms or ask for anything
else)
Chris

Hi, Please anyone can tell me if I can sponsor my niece (my sister's
daughter)
through family class. She is 33 and divorced with one child. I meet
all necessary financial and
immigration requirements.
I heard that there have been some changes in the Family sponsorship
class recently and now the above is possible
Thanks,
Sam

Hi,
I received a letter by the Canadian Embassy asking me to fill the
following forms as part of the skilled migration process
--An updated application form (IMM008 Generic)
--Schedule 1 for every person 18 years and older
--Schedule 3 for yourself
--Additional family information form for every person 18 years and
older (IMM5406)
--Supplementary Information (IMM5223)
I was instructed that these forms are available at
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/skilled.html
However when I navigate to the above url I get a page not found
error. Can someone please tell me where I can find these application
forms from?
Regards
Richard.

Hello,
I received a letter from the Canadian Embassy informing me that they
need some some documents. I have a few questions on the documents
requested
1. Official transcript(s) for secondary and post-secondary courses.
Does "Official transcript" mean the original transcript or a photocopy
of the transcript?
2. Test Results (IELTS) for English. I did my degree in English
therefore is the IELTS exam required?
3. Proof of relationship to your relative in Canada (Self-sworn
affidavits are not accepted). I have an Uncle living in Canada what
is the accepted and standard way of proving relationship?
4. Police Certificates. I live in Norway for around a year in 2003
and I got the Police Certificate from the Norwegian Police last year.
Is this recent enough (Police Certificate from Norway dating 2007) or
do I have to get a newer one although nothing will change since I have
not been to Norway since then?

I entered Canada in June 2006 on a 2-year work permit issued at New
Delhi to work as a postdoctoral fellow at a University in Ontario. At
that time, I was in the process of completing my PhD in UK. However, I
did not have a PhD degree in hand as my examination was pending. I was
told by CIC New Delhi that I need a LMO. My employer sought the LMO
and a positive LMO was issued. I got a two-year work permit and TRV
and joined my job here in Canada.
In March 2008, my employer extended my postdoctoral fellowship by one
more year until June 2009. In the meantime, in July 2007 I received my
PhD from the UK. Since the just the examination was pending I went
back to UK for a week, gave the exam, and got the degree.
I applied to CPC, Vegreville in April 2008 to extend my work permit by
one year. My employer did not seek or submit a new LMO as postdoctoral
fellows are LMO exempt provided they have a PhD degree in hand – which
I have now. However, I still received a phone call from CPC,
Vegreville that I need a LMO. My boss has written to them explaining
the situation.
I am concerned that they may not get back to my boss and just reject
my application. What should I do?
