To my understanding the mechanism of action of these two drugs is
similar, i.e. the inhibition of sex steroid hormone receptors on the
neural cells in hypothalamus. They apparently don't attach to the
steroid hormone receptors in other parts of the body including muscle
and testis. This makes the brain think the body doesn't produce
enough sex steroids and releases LH+FSH which turn on the hormone
synthesis in testis and ovary. Widely used by bodybuilders to start
natural T production after an anabolic cycle.
But how about their side effects? These drugs/supplements block the
steroid hormone receptors in neural cells - doesn't this mean they
also block the testosterone action in brain resulting e.g. in
decreased libido or ED? Any practical experience here?
