Michelle Malkin is a party-line hard-rightwinger that is spectacularly a
party-line-follower of the hard-rightwing party line.

I give better credibility to rightwing commentators that put some
thought into so much as any actual independent analysis as opposed to
following some rightwing party line especially if spectacularly and/or
stridently, and whether "parroting" or generating actual thought to
support "the party line".

  Balsam Hill pre-lit Christmas trees

Author: Rick
Date: Feb 2, 2008 18:57

Hi all.

I want to issue a warning. This past Christmas, I bought a Balsam
Hill (www.balsamhill.com) premium Christmas tree as seen on Oprah.
The tree itself was beautiful, but I made the mistake of buying a "pre-
lit" tree.

Whoever put the lights on the tree did it so that the tree couldn't be
assembled. S/he wound the wire around two branches so they couldn't
be separated, routed the wire from one branch to another somewhere
else on the tree and then back, and did a number of puzzling and wrong-
headed things. I called and e-mailed Balsam Hill's customer support
several times, and never got anyone to say "No, that's wrong, send the
tree back and we'll send you a new one," or "Here's how to make it
work." I spent several hours screaming at the tree (only cheery
Christmas things) and trying to assemble it.

Would you give up health insurance?

Author: Steve
Date: Feb 2, 2008 11:02

According to Money magazine, a survey by the Employee Benefit Research
Institute indicates that 25%% of people would give up their employer's
health insurance for a flat payment of $25,000. Would you? Seems like
a pretty shortsighted decision, trading off catastrophic coverage...

What's Going on with Cable Internet Today (2/2/08)

Author: JV Smith
Date: Feb 2, 2008 09:28

Does anyone know what's going on with cable internet service
today? I use Time Warner Cable for high speed internet access
and Earthlink as my ISP.

Today the service is incredibly slow. I'm getting rates slower
than dial-up. The cable company says it's the ISP's fault and
Earthlink says it's the Cable companies fault. I've spent more
than 2 hours on the telephone today (mostly on hold) and when
I manage to get an actual live person on the line, they transfer
me before I can say anything (TWC transfers me to Earthlink then
Earthlink transfers me back to TWC).

I was finally able to talk to a person at TWC and was able to
stop them before they transferred me again. They finally told
me that there is a problem with DNS (whatever that is). But,
of course, this is not their fault and not something they can
fix (it's beyond them). Why couldn't they just tell people
this in the first place instead of automatically bouncing
you around.

Isn't Customer Service great these days?????????????
