  Ken Burns Effect?

Is it possible to use Movie Maker to create a documentary using the "Ken
Burns Effect" of drifting and zooming on pictures?

If so, then how?

Thanks for your anticipated help!

From DV Video tape to Photo Story

Author: PapaJohn

Here's a link to a pilot concept test.... to see what you get if you take a
frame grab every 5 seconds from a widescreen camcorder video file, batch
distort the images with IrfanView so Photo Story 3 will re-distort them when
rendering the video to a widescreen format, render the story with a custom
high definiition profile of 1280x720 pixels, and then put it on the mydeo
streaming service.

There was absolutely no editing done... the audio has it's snaps, crackles
and pops... PS3 was allowed to use it's default settings of 5 seconds per
pix, with dissolve transitions between each, and whatever panning/zooming it
decided.

http://www.mydeo.com/videorequest.asp?XID=43807&CID=60378

167 frames of the 14 minute camcorder clip, combined with the actual audio,
is what you see in this pilot video.... I put it out at this point in it's
raw state to show that the process has merit... it's an easy cookie-cutter
process it get it from the camcorder tape to this point.

From this point on, the editing of the pictures and the story will shape it
into the final.... holiday greeting. How to do this process is the subject
of my newsletter this
week.

WMV Files Won't Import Into MM1, But Do In MM2

Author: RAH

I have several video clips in the WMV format. They import perfectly
into MovieMaker2. When I try to import them into MovieMaker1, I get
an error message, "This file cannot be imported. Make sure that it is
a valid file type.........."

Am I missing a program file for MM 1? It shows version 1.1.2427.1.

If you have a DVD recorder on the computer (either came with the computer or
purchased separately and installed,) it probably came with an "inexpensive"
version of a DVD authoring software. It may be My DVD, Sonic's DVD creator,
Roxio's DVD creator or Nero's version or a different version. Look at your
documentation and/or Programs list to see what you may have. Of course, if
you don't have a DVD burner on the computer, you can't burn DVDs and also
won't have the software. Windows XP Media Player edition has a DVD
authoring program on it accessed from WMM (but some have reported it as
unreliable.)

There's a chance that you should obtain
your video driver from Dell...but if you go
to the following site you'll find the latest
driver for the:: Radeon - Media Center
Edition - X600 series.

http://ati.de/support/driver.html

As you can see, it's dated, Dec. 13, 2006
so it's quite new.

Sorry, I have no idea what Effects Matrix is.

There are many choices and I cannot
recommend any certain one. Nero, ULead,
InterVideo WinDVD, Roxio, ProShow Gold...
are a few that come to mind. The main thing
is that the software you choose must be
able to import .wmv or .avi video clips.

The links I posted for you offer much info.

WMM - More Crashes Than Usual

Author: Chris
Date: Dec 18, 2006 11:48

For a while, I've used WMM for countless of Media Projects, and in spite of
the odd hang or crash, it has usually been faithful to me. But recently, I've
been getting more crashes than usual. It always happens when I try to
playback on a certain part of my movie, and no matter what I do - from trying
to create a new project to changing the video transitions - these problems
still occur.

I have Movie Maker Version 2.1.4026.0 (Which I'm guessing is Version 2) and
the last recent additions/changes I've done before using Movie Maker last was
updating my Media Player to Version 11 and installing Pinnacle Studio Version
9 Plus (Hoping to find an alternative).

Would either of the programs above have anything to do with my abnormal
crashes I've been having?
