  WLM unavailable

Author: chopperbobby

I am trying to configure Windows Live Messenger for a web cam, but I've come
to a stop, because when I sign in I get a message telling me that the service
is temporarily unavailable, and to try later. Detailed message:
http://chopperbobby.com/WliveM.jpg .
My WLM is Version 2009 (Build 14.0 8050.1202)
I have Win XP Home.
I can't believe that WLM can be out of service as long as it has been. Any
known problems with this?
Any suggestions?
Bob

Greetings Edwin,

Is this the latest version of Messenger? If this is on Windows Messenger, there's been
plenty of improvements in Windows Live Messenger which prevent this from happening and you
should seriously consider using that instead.

http://download.live.com/messenger for the latest.

When I try to sign onto the messenger this is the error I get.

Msmsgs.exe - Unable to Locate Component

The application has failed to start because gdiplus.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

So I downloaded this...
Thank You for Downloading
Platform SDK Redistributable: GDI+

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=6a63ab9c-df12-4d41-933c...#

I did all the windows updates and checked every site I could find. Please
help if you can.

Sometime yesterday morning I tried to send a text from my pc to a contact's
mobile phone and received the following: "The message was not sent because
mobile messaging is unavailable at this time. Please try again later." It
is over 24 hrs. later and still cannot send. It is all contacts and they
have different providers. I have received texts from their mobile phones,
but cannot reply. I've checked the status of service and all is okay. Any
help appreciated.

  Can't open email

I keep getting this every time I try to open email:

"We can't connect to Windows Live Hotmail right now. Please try again later."

It's been like that for the past several days. I can't believe the system is
having so many problems. When I send test email with another program (Eudora),
it shows up on the Hotmail page. I just can't open it.

It's definitely not an Internet connection problem since everything else needing
a connection works as it should.

I'm using version 8.5 of WLM.

Messenger deleted half my contacts and I can't re-add them

Author: Mike

Hi,

I turned on Messenger one day only to discover half of my contacts were no
longer on my contact list, but relegated to "non-instant messenger
contacts." Of the contacts who Messenger deleted, they can still see me as
their contacts and message me as per usual but I cannot re-add them as
friends. Basically, I can only chat with them if they start a chat with me
1st.

I tried to re-add these friends by dragging their names back to my normal
list of contacts and that didn't work. I tried deleting the contacts and
re-adding them and that didn't work either. Also, I have tried uninstalling
Messenger and reinstalling, and replacing that driver that- when replaced-
seemed to fix other people's problems. However, none of these alternatives
have worked thus far.

Please help me!! :-)
