OT: old AGP 4x graphics card expert please :-)

....Can anyone reccommend an AGP card for an old Packard Bell ixtreme 6052
with a
http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=spec_UC1&ppn=P851008201
motherboard in it that appears to have a 4x AGP slot, ...and only a 280w psu
?

I've been looking at Nvidia 6200 's, 350mhz core clock AGP cards, (8x but is
backwards compatible I think).

Does anyone know if there's a decnet card with a 400mhz GPU on it that won't
suck too much power ?

Using http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
...Antecs' power psu calculator, selecting a card above 6200 and the power
requirements drops !!

any tips appreciated,

regards, Richard

  Problems with graphics card driver

Author: yaro137

I've got a Gigabyte motherboard with on-board VIA graphics and a
Haans.G wide screen monitor. No CD that came with the motherboard
though. After downloading the graphics driver from manufacturers
website I was able to change the resolution to what I want which is
1280x786pix. After rebooting the computer graphics card driver goes
back to generic driver and in device manager I've got a yellow
exclamation mark next to the graphics card. I was struggling with the
problem for a while also downloading the driver straight from VIA. No
luck. Finally fed up with all this situation I bought an AGP graphics
card from NVidia, installed the drivers and eventually set the monitor
to required settings. All was fine till I rebooted the computer. Guess
what... I'm back with generic driver and in device manager...

Safely Remove Hardware icon doesn't appear

Author: M Skabialka

When I use a USB thumb drive in one machine, a laptop, running WinXP I don't
get the icon to Safely Remove Hardware. It doesn't matter which thumb drive
I use, and I get the message for these thumb drives on other machines. I am
not hiding inactive icons. The thumb drive contents show up in explorer.

How can I get this to reappear, or is there another method I can use to stop
the process? It's using USB 1.0 on the laptop.

Thanks

Mich

  External hard drive crash

Author: pbl

Hi, I have a firewire/USB2 external combo drive, which is my main backup
drive for my laptop. Tonight it was working fine as normal and then it just
went dead. I have tried both the USB and firewire connections on two
different computers. The computer recognises the device after plugging it in
and swtiching it on and then My Computer window freezes and the disk drive
makes a rythmical clicking sound that I haven't heard before. Please don't
tell me there's no way to recover the files. Half of them are backed up on
another external drive but I hadn't quite finished this secondary bacup
process. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this and any solutions??
Thanks.

Can an ISP disable modem configuration?

Author: Mikey
Date: May 2, 2008 04:26

Have a Versatek ver170p modem. It works fine. I bought it from my ISP
last year when I signed up with them for high speed internet service.
According to the instructions that came with the modem (and on
Versatek's website) I should be able to configure the modem by entering
http://192.168.1.1 in a browser, but when I do this in Internet Explorer
I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". In Firefox it
shows "The connection has timed out". When I "ping" it, everything is
okay. Have tried this with my firewall off, same thing. I've never
been able to get into the configuration menu of the modem, when I first
got the modem I tried and couldn't but didn't worry about it because the
modem worked. Yesterday thought I'd try again to get to the
configuration menu but got the same...
