Hello, I reinstalled XP and there is no Administrator in the start
menu user selection screen. When I try setting up an account called
administrator is says there is already an account called
administrator. Did I miss something during the install. Well I'm
installing again but does anybody know what I may have done wrong?
Thanks for replies.

I just tried to restore my computer back to a previous date, but when I go
to the icon it's the usual default looking one that indicates it hasn't got
an association with anything.
Clicking on it and nothing happens. Does this mean I have lost all my
ability to restore? How would that happen? Will this automatically start
functioning again at some time? Is there another way to access this
function?

Hi All
I am new here.PLEASE HELP
I have 4 computers on my home network and two of them have the same problem.
When I go into system restore and click on restore my computer to a earlier
time there are multiple intances of the same driver being installed every 5
mins or so. It is not exact. Sometimes it is 15 mins between and sometimes 5
mins or sometimes 20 seconds. Since system restore only holds so many restore
points I can not go back more than a few hours.
It is installing " Printer driver brother pc-fax installed"
I do a a Buffalo nas server installed on the network that used to have a
brother multifuntion printer attached to the print server on the nas. I
disabled that over a year ago and have since reinstalled os on both computers.

Hi all,
I'm running a small number of XP Pro machines and using a remote access
program called Timbuktu, I am not using the Welcome Screen to access
windows, and I'm looking for an alternate way to lock down temporarily as
the "Ctrl/Alt/Delete - K" option won't work remotely..
Is there a way to bring up the Security window without using the
Ctrl/Alt/Delete keys?
thanks,
niteowl

Is there a way to keep the links folder from popping back when it's
erased from the bookmarks column?

Hello:
I use two toolbars on my desktop: The Langauge Bar, which consists of only a
small square whereby I toggle languages. And the Quick Launch, whereby I can
access a program or a site very quickly. I have many items on that Quick
launch bar, but most of them rise vertically after about 1/3 of the way
across the desktop. Theres a >> after the last item horizontally, and then
the list ascends upward, visible only when I need another item
Recently, I occasionally find that many of those items begin to appear lined
up across much of the horizontal field on the bottom of the desktop. I dont
know how to get the previous length of that tolbar restored. The only way I
know of is to do a system restore, which does work. But I'm sure theres a
much more simple and prudent way to configure this toolbar to the previous
settings.
Any ideas?
TIA
-Eli

read many posts on this subject and tried all the suggestions, no luck.
Behavior: windows would not boot, gave the message
"c:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt. Found a kb 307545
that at least got me booted up but (copies the registry from a previous
restore point, Apr 20) but now windows will not react at all to a request to
shutdown or restart via task mgr or via the Start button. I tried shutting
down all running programs, no results. I even stopped explorer.exe, no diff.
So I did a power off but now on bootup, I get a windows XP screen with a main
blue area that is otherwise empty (only says Windows XP on a blue background;
no not the bsod) All safe mode bootup options result in this same screen. So
I run winternals ERD 2005, do the copy of the 5 registry files...

When I go to Start, My Documents appear on the right side and lists all of
the folders in there for me to use. All of a sudden, when I go to Start -
they are not there. However, if I right click on My Documents and go to
Open - the folders are all there BUT they are a very pale yellow and do not
show when I double click My Docs. I use Windows XP Pro and IE 7.
For the Control Panel, My Computer, My Documents, My Music, and My Pictures
items, you have three options:
a.. Display as a link
b.. Display as a menu
c.. Don't display this item
I want to display as a MENU however this does not work...
How can I solve this problem? I like them attached this way to the Start
menu so that they are easily accessible - and would appreciate any help you
can give me.
Thanks so much!

My system is a Dell Deminsion 4600 running Windows XP Pro 2002 with Service
Pack 2. The processor is a Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
2 GB of RAM are installed. When I go into the BIOS settings, 2 GB RAM are
listed... However, Windows XP is only recognizing 256MB (as listed under
System Properties in the Control Panel).
This system is running VERY slowly and freezing periodically. Is there any
way to make Windows XP recognize that 2 GB of RAM are installed and
available???
THANKS,
