After I rename a file, the scurity tab of the properties dialog
disappeared. I get access error when I try to delete it, and I find
no way to change its security setting.
Other files in the same directory has no such problem.
The file system is NTFS.
How can this happen?

I have a Compaq Presario preloaded with Win XP SP2. When I receive some
attachments in a Email and try to open them, it always opens in "Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer"! When I try to Open With using "Recommended programs
or Other Programs", it sort of gets jumbled! Is it NOT possible to open them
using any other program like say Word or PowerPoint or Excel etc?

I installed SP3 with no problem, however I had an unrelated issue using
msconfig and one of the steps to correct was to uninstall SP3. Now I can't
re-install SP3 without errors. I get an error " The requested lookup key was
not found in active activation context". Any idea on how I can fix the
problem.
Thank you

Hello,
I have just finished installation of Windows XP PRO from the
scratch.
With all the updates including SP3 the size of \Windows folder is over 4.2
GB
Is that normal?
Why is it so big?

Hi:
In the course of formatting a bootable system diskette in Windows XP,
I noted that no mouse.com driver was included on the resulting
diskette. I was rather surprised then to find no mouse.* driver on my
installed XP system, nor could I find it in the Support\Tools folder
on the distribution CD.
Did I overlook something, or is no DOS mouse.com/.exe/.sys installed
or available with Windows XP? If not, is there a recommended default
driver/mouse.com executable people pull in to add to their boot system
floppy?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have put in a HD from a previous PC with XP already on it into this PC with
XP on it as well. Am I able to set up a multi boot with with operating
systems already on the drives? I really want to keep the the files (recording
software and projects) from the drive and be able to boot to it if needed.

I use various devices through my usb drive (external HD, digital camera, cell
phone) and they all show an icon on the bottom right task bar when I connect
them and then usually pop open a window asking what I want to do with the
drive. I recently bought a usb SATA HDD docking station so I can easily
connect internal drives to my computer. The first time I used the drive, it
recognized the new external device trying to connect and eventually revealed
the new hard drive with its letter in My Computer. It is pretty slow trying
to open files off the drive and exploring the drive has frozen explorer a few
times. Now when I connect it, I get the soundbyte that shows something has
been connected and the hardware icon shows on the toolbar, however, no Hard
Drive appears in My Computer. I...

Since Sp3 install, my son's Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connection fails to connect
sporadically. We seem to have narrowed it down to something to do with
Windows firewall. (?) Any suggestions?

Hi,
This is a repost. The original post received no replies. I'm ready to
throw this computer in the trash. PLEASE help!!...
I am running Windows XP on my laptop, and I have a couple of cards that I
use for internet. One is a Motorola wireless adapter (because the computer
does not have built in wireless), and the other is a Verizon Air Card (for
mobile internet). The problem I'm having is that I have to keep reinstalling
these cards (using the driver discs) almost every time I switch from one to
the other. I never had this problem before. I just wiped out and reloaded
(with the stock restore disc), and it has not helped. I have also had
problems with a GPS device that plugs into the USB. I've had to reinstall
this a couple times too. The details are below:
Computer: Panasonic Toughbook CF-51
Wireless Adapter: Motorola WN825G
Verizon Air Card: Qualcomm PC5750
If more information is needed to answer this question, please let me know
and I'll get it ASAP. I don't know the type of card slot this is, but I know
it's the wider one, not the newer, skinnier slot.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
