Welcome fellow ATI User.
I initially had many probs getting my X1400 working, but I got there in the
end. basically I had to re-make my component from a modified INF file, that
told it *not* to install the ATI Poller service.
Things you need to know are the APPs that most ATI's user, namely "Catlyst"
need the .NET Framework to install and run. If you don't need the fancier
settings your card gives you then just the driver is fine. ( No need for
Framework if you are only using the driver ). The driver will give you Dual
Screen, including independant res, and refresh rates. I use it myself and
all works fine.
Another thing to know is that if yours is anything like mine, you will need
to address any MAIN drivers first. Like for instance, Intel's main chipset
driver. Once you have that installed then Windows will pickup that you have
other devices that are further down the line. Typically the graphics card.
Try downloading the ATI SLD's from either
XPFiles.com or Sean Limings site.
Sean has an ATI setup that apparently address the ATI Poller service prob.
