  edit video driver settings

Author: LarryW
Date: May 30, 2008 13:14

I have a component from Asiliant for our video card. The 'component
instances are editable' setting is checked. In the Target Designer, the
drop-down doesn't have the color choice for 24 bits and I need to set it for
that. In the Settings I can see a bunch of custom 'cmi' properties but when
I go to the Advanced tab I can't find a way to edit the cmiColorQuality.
This is with FP2007 and Update Rollup. How do I change the setting?

  com port access denied

I've built a 'full-up' XP embedded system using Sean's component. We have an
application that uses a number of com ports. I configured the com ports in
XP Pro and exported the 'ports' registry branch and made a component for
them. The image has a 'user' account, in the administrator group as well as
the Administrator account. When the application is run in the 'user'
account, it gets an 'access denied' return code (2) when trying to open the
ports. But if it's run in the Administrator account, it works fine. What
other registry settings do I need to make to be able to access com ports from
a user account which has admin rights?

windows xp embedded vs non-embedded ? regarding solid state / flash drives.

Author: jameshanley39

hi

I am interested in windows xp embedded's advantages, in terms of the
issue of reading/writing to a flash "disk" drive. (I happen to be
referring to IDE flash drives, small ones like 2GB)

I notice some of them have an endurance of 1,2,4 million r/w
cycles. (or as some say, write/erase cycles). And the cheap ones only
10,000

Regarding these ones with an endurance in the millions

Would regular windows xp kill off one of these things if virtual
memory was being used?
Apparently one can run regular windows xp, without a page file.
Is there then any advantage in running Windows XP Embedded?

Is it the case that windows xp with no paging file, would still kill
off a 10,000 endurance flash disk. And so windows xp embedded, which
I hear can block all writes to the disk except when you deem then
necessary.. Apparently that will let it run nicely on it.

DUA HTTPGET fails with 12002 Error

Author: aslank

Hi All
Can someone please explain me what am I missing. I believe I may have
configured IIS incorrectly but I am not sure and knowledgeable opinion
would help. I have spent entire day troubleshooting and googling and
no results. In short DUA has no problem reading DUP file but has
problem with HTTPGET line.

I am planning on performing custom updates on XPE machine. For that
purpose I installed IIS on one of the test XP Pro machine that I have
and created dummy default page duatest.htm.

My XP Pro server machine name DUATESTSERVER and “default website
property” is configured in following:

“Authentication method” under “directory security” tab is set to
“anonymous access” and “allow IIS to control password”. Everything
else is unchecked.

Added “*.DUP “ to a MIME types. Added directory to Added XPEQFE
directory under “C:\INETPUB\WWWROOT\” and added required permissions
to read and write inheritably to all files within directory.

  msystems udoc replacement

Author: Ev
Date: May 29, 2008 13:24

I tried to use Sandisk uSSD 5000 flash drive to replace the msystems udoc
drive I am using for my exiting XPe image but I cannot get it to work. The
boot kit for Windows that I downloaded for the device requires a Windows XP
installation CD to prepare the drive to boot XP image. I am wondering if
anyone knows of any usb flash drive very similar to the udoc. I need a 2 GB
or more and one that can be partitioned.

thanks.

  Builds Using the Debug Option

Author: dwi
Date: May 29, 2008 11:02

Target Designer provides the option of selecting a Build Type as either Debug
or Release. When I select Debug for the Build Type, the image fails to boot
properly. When deployed, the image first displays the Windows screen with the
boot progress bar and then issues an error indicating "load needed dlls for
kernel". When I perform the build with the Build Type set to Release, I don't
encounter this problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem? My concern
is that perhaps this indicates some other problem with the build or the
settings I'm using that is being masked by the Build Type selection. Thanks.

  PCM 9375 graphics

I would like to use the advantech PCM 9375 for a project that I have
in mind, but I need 2 questions answered.

1. Does the LX 800 geode support directx graphics 2-D only ? and if
so, what versions?
2. With only 512 MB max memory, is this unit powerful enough to move
3 mb jpeg files around the screen, just slowly, but I dont want it to
be painfully slow on the updates, it might do a reposition of the jpeg
once every 1 second.

Thanks

Does anyone know what components are required as a minimum to get

  UAA Driver

Author: Vern:8)
Date: May 28, 2008 20:00

I am starting to build a XPe device with a IDT STAC9202 device. Someone told
me that the MS UAA bus driver is not supported in XPe. I also cannot find it
in the Target Designer component list. Is the UAA driver available for XPe?
If so, what is it called? If not, how/where do I get it?

Thanks,
Vern Sauder

Contact for WinIO DLL for XPe

Author: Boby George

Hi All,

I assume that many people have used WinIO DLL in their XP Embedded projects. I need to get a distribution license for WinIO. And I tried the email addresses that came with the package for distribution, but those email addresses just bounced. Does anyone have a valid email contact for contacting the WinIO vendor?

Thanks,

Boby
