  Run time error 381

Author: ivan morales
Date: Mar 31, 2008 10:54

Hi, i am trying to see where are some dll's to make it work my image. I run
dependency walker then when i wanna get in the Component Database and apply
a filter on CDM it appears an error that says "Run time error 381" invalid
property array index. I try to install again the WXPE and still appears the
same error.

Does anybody knows how can i fix it?

Or maybe you can help me with the dll's that i'm looking for.

version.dll, shlwapi.dll, mscoree.dll gdi32.dll, netapi32.dll, ole32.dll,
urlmon.dll, advapi32.dll.

Also i have the next question, who can i make the component for the drivers
that come with the motherboard (MSI Realtek High Definition Audio and ATI
Catalyst Control Center)

Thanks

Slave ATA device won't use DMA

Author: Brent K
Date: Mar 31, 2008 09:20

I'm developing a system that uses CF drives in IDE mode. The compact flash
drives support MultiWord DMA 2, but I cannot get XPe to use DMA with the
slave device. I've checked the registry settings that are associated with
the transfer mode, but they seem OK. I've been through the BIOS and can see
that both devices report MultiWord DMA 2 as support. How can I figure out
why XPe isn't allowing the slave device to transfer using DMA.

Thanks,
BK

  NTLDR error

Author: Rob
Date: Mar 31, 2008 08:07

I used the example from the Xpe help files. It builds quite well. When I go
to run the installed image I get a NTLDR missing.

In reading other blogs, I see that I should also have ntdetect, ntldr, and
ensure the boot.ini is correct. I am very sure the boot.ini is correct. No
where does it say (or I have failed to see it) about the NTLDR or NTDETECT.
My drive is partioned as NTFS.

Quite defeating when you can't get an example to run. I used XPe about 5
yrs ago, thus you could say I am new (again).

Thanks, Rob

  Group Policy Configurations

Author: Centeno
Date: Mar 31, 2008 07:10

Hello

Let’s see if anyone can help me on this.
I am relatively new to Windows Embedded and I have a problem with group
policy.
I’ve added all the components with the words Group Policy, hopping to have
access to all the configurations.
This effort was in vain. When I tried to access Control Panel (User
Configuration - Administrative Templates - Control Panel), the option wasn’t
there.
Is there any way to add all the configurations to my image?

Thanks in advance

Due to a major problem with my computer I have had to re-install my XP but
aren't able to get XP 2. When I hit the button to look for updates a new
window opens and the little green bar leeps shooting left to right with the
info that updates are being looked for. This has taken 4 (yes four) hours up
til now and still nothing. Any (simple and easy to understand) instructions
or suggestions will be most welcome.

  Files not found error ?

Author: Polaris
Date: Mar 28, 2008 08:05

Hi Experts:

I need to add my application to Windows XP Embedded image using the
Component Designer/DB Manager/Target Desiner. The application has some user
mode items (exe, dlls) and a kernel driver. I did the following steps in the
Component Designer:

1. Import the devices.pmg
2. Import the inf for for kernel driver
3. Make new "Component" and add files, registry, service data

In steps 3 above, the files (Dlls) are located under C:\Windows\System32.

After running Component Dabase Manager to import those items above and build
image in the Target Designer, I got Error (1005, File not found) for all the
files that I specified in step 3, even though all files are right there in
the correct location.

I have marked all 3 items above as "Release", but it did not make
difference.

I'd appriciate if someone can point out for me where I might do wrong?

Thanks In Advance.

  MFC Window paint

Author: Pena
Date: Mar 28, 2008 07:26

Hello,

We're relatively new to Windows Embedded and we were under the impression
that it was really a customizable Windows XP. Maybe we're doing something
wrong and some component is missing, but when running an application (MFC),
which runs perfectly under Windows XP, on a Windows XP Embedded machine, most
windows aren't painted correctly. It's as if the screen area was
miscalculated and the painted controls (labels, textboxes, etc) sizes are
completely wrong and some even missing. I suppose that the missing controls
are being positioned outside the visible screen area.

Can anyone help me with the X File? I tried Scully but I got an out of
office reply :)

How to get Windows PE for running Tap.exe

Author: mm7376

Hello.

I'm just starting to evaluate WinXP Embedded and I've installed the
development environment onto an existing XP machine in our lab. I'd now like
to run TAP.exe on our embedded platform (which is a different machine) and
I've read that this can be done by booting the device from a CDROM using
Windows PE as supplied on DISK1 of the WinXP Embedded Studio. However, I've
looked in the folder C:\Program Files\Windows Embedded\Installer\DISK1\ and I
can't find any sign of the PE image. I've also had a look in the knowledge
base and I can't find any reference on how to burn a bootable CDROM with PE
and TAP installed from the Web Installer images. Am I missing something
obvious? Surely, this should be easy... is a bootable ISO image I can
download to much to ask for!

  Adding components to deployed system

Author: [JULO]
Date: Mar 28, 2008 02:34

Hello,

Is there any way how to add individual components to deployed system? I mean some tool which generates script or executable for adding component for deployed system.

There is dirty way by manual copying files, creating registry keys and finding dependencies, but i dont want to use this method until i really don't have to.

I cannot afford to build completely new image and resotore it on target devices because there are houndreds of it.

Thanks for any advice
