  DirectX 9.0c & POWERDVD

Author: Hayes
Date: May 14, 2008 21:28

Hi all~
I have an xpe image that has added the component of "DirectX 9.0c", then
i check all items from settings and add all dependency components. Now i want
to install PowerDVD or WinDVD, but always get an error message like "Please
install DirectX 9 first". I check my image with full "DirectX 9.0"
components, so i don't know why the two softwares can't find DirectX from my
xpe image.

How to solve this problem? Thank you for your advice..
Really thanks

I just imported a USB driver .inf file and it created a component. One of
the files is a .cat file and it setup the file page with a destination of
%%66000%%. But I don't find that in the drop-down list. What location is
that? Thanks!

  Announcing Windows Embedded Standard CTP

Author: Weijuan Shi [MSFT]
Date: May 14, 2008 16:00

We're excited to announce that in the beginning of June the Windows Embedded
team will be releasing a new Community Technology Preview (CTP) of our next
product release - Windows® Embedded Standard!

Windows® Embedded Standard is the next generation of Windows XP Embedded. It
delivers the power, familiarity, and reliability of the Windows operating
system to help you rapidly configure devices that easily connect to many
common industry standards and Microsoft technologies.

Go to the Microsoft Connect site now to register:
http://connect.microsoft.com/windowsembedded.

We have a fairly short window of time for folks to give us feedback on this
release, so we'd like to ask that you please allocate time in your schedule
to download, try out, and give us your feedback as soon as it is available.
In order to allow us enough time to review and possibly incorporate feedback
into the final product, feedback should be submitted through the Connect
site before July 7th, 2008.

For more details, you can see our blog announcement here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/embedded/archive/2008/05/13/are-you-itching-to-try-something....

Thanks!

  Disable F8 at Boot

Author: kthompson
Date: May 14, 2008 14:09

I know there have been many posts on this topic in the past. However,
I could not find anything in the last year or so, presumably before
Feature Pack 2007 came out.

So I am hoping that someone has found a way to prevent the user from
pressing F8 to access the Windows boot menus. It would be supremely
helpful to prevent any key presses from affecting the boot process. I
know some of this depends on BIOS settings, but once XPe starts
loading I would like to keep the user from accessing any boot options.

For the record, disabling the contacts on the keyboard is not an
option in my situation. Nor can I use any methods that involve hacking
or illegally altering XPe. Otherwise, any feedback on this issue would
be helpful.

  Help in Custom shell program

Author: news
Date: May 14, 2008 11:15

Hi,
I have a dialog application with few buttons as a custom shell.
When I hit the Esc button (sane as the Cancel button), the applications
exits, and imediatly start again.
I want this option and I don't remember how I made it to work like this.
As I see in my application code there is no special code to do this.
I think that this done by some settings in the target designer.

Please help me to how I can reproduce this feature.

Thanks,
David.
