  XPe El-Torito vs XP El-Torito

Author: Stefan Klein

Hallo,
i'm trying to deploy a 300MB XPe run-time image to a Liteline/Mitac 5033
Notebook (AMD K6-2 400MHz, 160MB Ram, 5GB HDD, Toshiba XM-7002B CD-ROM).
I created a XPe bootable El-Torito CD that does work on another (more
modern) pc but doesn't bootup at the notebook. It just skips the cd-rom
and goes on booting from HDD (standard Windows XP). XP Professional
Setup CD boots up fine so boot order should be ok.

So, is it possible that the XPe bootable El-Torito cd maybe checks for
already installed os'es and skips booting from cd?

The cd media is readable. The currently installed XP shows the cd name
in explorer. The disc itself is empty in explorer (by design like stated
in xpe docs).

The notebook is capable of booting the windows xp setup cd so why
doesn't it boot the xpe boot cd-rom? Don't they both have the same
El-Torito standard based mechanism to start the cd? I'm not sure if i
should remove the active flag from the hdd partition to force a cd boot
(in case its a boot order problem). It needs more than 10min to boot
into recovery console with XP setup cd to change that (with that notebook).

  XPe SP3?

Author: LarryW

I've just seen an announcement about SP3 for XP Embedded. It talks about a
SP2c which I'm not aware of but seems to imply that if I'm at SP2, it will
apply all the updates since. Not sure if that includes Feature Pack 2007 or
Update Rollup 1? It would sure be nice if I could just apply SP3 to a system
that's at SP2. Anyone have more information on how all this works?

Standby Mode - Cannot wake up

I am having problems coming out of standby mode. Windows XPE goes to standby
mode when I pressed the "Standby" on bezel key of my display. Windows never
responds when its in "standby".

Do you know what could be the reason ?. My BIOS has some power settings S1,
S3 and S1/S3. The current setting is S3, I also tried S1. It didn't make any
difference.

One thing I should mention is that it was working fine with XP Pro.

Thanks

  Visual C++ runtime for VS2008

Author: LarryW

I've finally located the VC++ runtime support/SxS files in Software : System
: System Services : Application Support. But even with the Feb 2008 patches,
they only contain the VC 6.0 files. When will these components be updated to
contain the VS2008 (and VS2005) runtime files?

  STOP: 0x000000F4 on 1GB CF

Hi

I have two compact flash cards, one with 512 MB and the other with 1 GB
capacity.
The Xp embedded OS built for my target is working properly with 512 MB flash
without any hurdles. The same image is giving Stop error: 0x000000f4
consistently on 1 GB card during FBA(PNP installation phase).

About Error:
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or
been terminated.
STOP: 0x000000F4(0x00000003,0x84FD2A78,0x84FD2BEC,0x805FEFC0)

The post FBA image( run on 512 MB card) is working properly on 1 GB card
without any error.

* I have verified for the partition numbers(arc path) and target machine
settings(boot partition size) in target designer.

The FBA error log does not give any information on the error.

Please help.

Thanks,

Someone can give me some advices how to do that?
