Hello,
I try to implement a serial driver with kdmf and I've got a problem with
the implementation of IOCTL_SERIAL_GET_COMMSTATUS.
My device load good. But when I open a hyperterminal the first input is
read, the second do nothing and when the third appears hyperterminal
loop on IOCTL_SERIAL_GET_COMMSTATUS and freeze.
Here is my code :
http://pastebin.com/f38ae7c20
Here is my debug output:
http://pastebin.com/m3de139e3
For the debug output, the first key pressed on hyperterminal produce the
write, the second do nothing and when I pressed a third time a key the
IOCTL_SERIAL_GET_COMMSTATUS loop appears and don't stop.
The only solution to stop that is to kill hyperterminal with the task
manager.
Thanks for you help :)

Hi all,
does anyboody know how to obtain the actual "config"? is there any
API?
Or how to know the boot options of a booted system?
i.e. things like if is a safe-boot, vga-mode, baudrate, debug,
debugport...
Regards

Most likely you have some third-party customization in your Control Panel
that isn't compatible with XPsp3.
Just to be clear about your symptom. Does it still occur if you open Device
Manager
directly? (E.g. use Run... devmgmt.msc )
FWIW what I would try to do is run ProcMon to get some clues about
what is loading when you try that.
Alternatively see if you can avoid the symptom by booting in VGA mode.
E.g. find a boot choice which shows /basevideo in its OS Load Options
(as shown by bootcfg). Or make one which does that using that tool. ; )
BTW MUC is not the best newsgroup to try to diagnose such symptoms in. ; )
Cross-posting to XP General.

My understanding is that when I plug a new USB device into windows xp,
the device's serial number is polled and(if found), a series of
registry entries are created. Later when I install the driver for
this new device, the driver is associated with the serial number of
the device. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I have over 100 USB devices with unique serial numbers. Each time I
connect a new one, I'm required to re-install the driver. My intent
is to gather the serial numbers from the manufacturer and replicate
the registry entries created by a single driver install, for all the
other USB devices. Can this be done? Is there a better way?
Thanks in advance,
-Kevin

hey guys.
im new in developing device drivers.
my problem is that i want to write a driver which simulates
keyhits, like a virtual keyboard.
it must be a driver, it cant be the simple winapi, like sendkeys
oder sendmessage. there was a thread b4 with a similar name, but i
think this will be a bit different. ;) i hope so.
ive read and tried alot but nowhere in the inet is an exactly example
how to setup a keyhit, not even in the ddk src\input\kbdfilter or
i8042prt dir.
ive tried this.

Having problems with my bluetooth connection, I noticed that COM2 to
COM7 have disappeared.
Only remain LPT, COM1 and COM41 to 51.
Those COM41..51 coming from bluetooth drivers I installed in turn to
activate mes various bluetooth USB keys: curiously, COM numbering
keeps increasing by 11.
I tried removing COM1, expecting XP re-install the whole stuff
but it re-installed COM1 only.
Any idea? Thanks
