How can I replace XP's 3D-type icons with the classic Win 98 icons?

Try

Right click the desktop and select properties. Go to APPEARANCE Next WINDOWS and BUTTONS drop down list Select WINDOWS CLASSIC.

Thanks. I've tried that before, and it does not cause the icons in
Windows and Office to change back to their Win98/2000 look. It just
changes the overall style and color of the Windows appearence.

Use "Change Icon" in each items' properties, and use another DLL - like good
old moricons.dll? Or for that matter progman.exe. Both of these contain
old icons - some of them really old! (even "WordPerfect Office" and
"Dataease" are represented in moricons!)
