Taskbar wideness resets every time after restarting Windows

Hello, I have a little problem with my taskbar in Windows. I have put it on
the left side of my screen and widened it one step, so three columns of
little quick-start icons fit in. Every time I restart Windows the taskbar has
again the original wideness, so only 2 quickstart icon columns and a blank
space fit in. So, then I unlock the taskbar, enlarge the wideness, and relock
it. After every Windows session I have to repeat this action.

This problem I have on different computers with different XP licenses, so I
think that it is really a bug in Windows itself. I wanted to tell Microsoft
about it, so they might be able to solve this bug, but that would cost me 72
euros without garantee of solution...

Does anyone recognize this problem, or even know how to solve it, other then
give up and change the taskbar configuration permanently?
