Taskbar buttons have disappeared

Good Morning!

I have WIN XP. When a program is minimized, the taskbar buttons no
longer appear in the taskbar, whether or not the "group similar taskbar
buttons" is checked or not. This occurred after I upgraded to Office 97.

So, what's the fix? Please email responses to vbbuilt@verizon.net

Thanks, Vince

Download and run the script from this web site.

Line 240, left hand column, Programs aren't Minimized in the Taskbar
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

If that doesn't fix the problem, download this utility and see if it helps.

Taskbar Repair Tool Plus!

Good luck

I appreciate the response, but I don't know how to run a .vbs script. I
downloaded it to my desktop, but what do I do?

Vince.

Double click on it and follow the prompts.

Ok, I just figured it out!. Double-clicking on the icon, as instructed by
your webpage didn't work. I had to right-click the .vbs icon on my desktop
and then "open with command prompt". It worked! Thanks!

Tiny suggestion? Update your website at the top of the page so that dummies
like me, know what to do!

Glad to hear you were able to fix the Taskbar problem.

As for the file, that's not my web site so I have no control over what
instructions are included. That said, I had no problem double clicking that file
and getting it to run. You might want to check and see if there's a problem with
the file association for .vbs files on your computer. Go to Control Panel ->
File Options -> File Types and scroll down to VBS VBScript Script File and make
sure it's configured to be opened by the Microsoft Windows Based Script Host.
