I have tried several times to load SP3, both from CD and downloading. Each
time it fails and I have a message "error occurred while copying file
beethov9.wma" and also "cannot copy file to destination directory."
What do I have to do to solve this problem??

Okay, so I downloaded EyesDropper in an effort to reduce my computer usage.
However, after I installed it Windows settings were changed. I quickly
uninstalled it, instead of restarting the computer as EyesDropper asked me to
do. When I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, instead of just the Task Manager coming,
there is a box in the middle of the Desktop that has all the options (Turn
Off, Lock Computer..) etc. that Task Manager had, instead of it all
convieniently placed in Task Manager. When I press the start menu, my icon
for my account isn't at the top of the Start Menu. When I press Shut Down
(Which used to be Turn Off Computer) There is a drop down menu for Stand By,
Shutdown and Restart instead of icons and captions. When I press Log off.. it
just asks me if I want to log off. There wasn't...

From what I gather, it's installed with Windows Live group of programs, mine
appeared shortly after updating MSN. The only thing is its registered in
msconfig services tab as written by "microsoft corp." not "microsoft
corporation" though it disappears if you tick hide all microsoft services box.

I have one copy of WindowsXP Home (one disk). I had it installed in my
previous computer and Standby was available. Now I have it installed in my
new computer and Standby is NOT available. How can I get it back? Thanks

I have a GeForce 8800GTS and I'm running 2 (different manuf) 24" monitors. My
problem is my secondary monitor doen't like to pick up the display and just
switches from digi to analog looking for the signal. Occassionaly it works
but most of the time I ahve to go into the display properties and switch
stuff or use the NVidia control panel until it starts working.
Is there a specific point your supposed to turn on secondary monitor or turn
it off?
Using XP /media center w SP3

I need to transfer to a new xp pro machine. I've heard the Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard is the thing to use. Can anyone verify or suggest
something else?

I am experiencing "weirdness" with my Windows XP machine related to icons
that live in the System Tray.
Sometimes, after I install a new program & then restart the computer, many
of the normal icons I have in my System Tray are missing after the restart.
If I restart the computer a second time, the icons reappear.
The issue seems more tied to the operating system (in my opinion) than to
idiosyncrasies of any particular new program that I install. I keep my
computer environment pretty stable and I only install software from
well-known vendors.
I know that some people recommend periodically doing a clean disk reinstall
of Windows itself on an annual basis in order to prevent/eliminate
configuration problems with the operating system that can manifest
themselves over time. I have to admit that it's probably been about 4-5
years since I last did this - apart from the problem I describe above, I am
fairly happy with how the computer runs / how stable things are.
Can anybody recommend some troubleshooting steps that I could do to resolve
the issue I describe?
Thanks for knowledgeable replies.

When I open the MC window I don't have the views I usually have. I'm missing
the blue panel on the left hand side. It's shaded blue and it's usually
divided into 3 sections. They were/are titled:
System Tasks
Other Places
Details
each with a double chevron that allows you to condense or open that section.
(listled above). Can someone please tell me how to get that blue section?
Thanks
