A while back my onboard VIA Compatable Fast Ethernet Adapter stopped
working, so I went out and bought a new one.. a Linksys LNE 100TX (v5) Fast
Ethernet Adapter which is enabled in device manager.. I disabled the VIA
COmpatable One, AND when I tried to uninstall it , windows tries to install
it every time I boot up.. What is the best way to handle this? Thanks for
any input.. Rainy..

I want to be able to enlarge just one desktop icon and make it bigger
than the other ones on my desktop so that it stands out.

Can I do that?

I thank you in advance for your attention to this question...

  .NET Framework Question

Author: JW
Date: Apr 6, 2008 08:40

I'm running WXP Pro Version 2002 Svc Pack 2. I just attempted to install
SyncToy V1.4, but a window popped up advising me "This setup requires the
.NET Framework version 2.0.50727." It offered me a link, but the link was
broken and I was redirected to a web page with multiple choices, none of
which I understand. I am not a developer; I simply want to install the basic
requirements that will permit me to run SyncToy. If anyone can point me to
the appropriate .NET download, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

  Use of Partition Magic

Author: Dr. Sinister

Hi Folks,
Thanks to several of you people responding to an earlier question that I
had asked re: "one drive, two partitions", I have chosen to use Partition
Magic to solve the problem. However, because I honestly don't know what I'm
doing, I'm needing some more help. Partition Magic has identified my
computer's drive configuration as follows: II. Existing Configuration:
A. Partition: Disk 1
1. Local Disk (C:)
a) Type: FAT 32
b) Size: 8001.1 MB
c) Used: 6499.6 MB
d) Un-used: 1501.5 MB
e) Status: Active
f) Primary/Logical: Primary
2. (*)
a) Type: Extended
b) Size: 11076.1
c) Used: 11076.1
d) Un-used: 0.0
e) Status: None ...

  Grouping files in Wndows

Author: Robin Chapple
Date: Apr 6, 2008 03:40

I am running XP .

For many months I have been able to select several similar files and
have them open as a group in the correct program. Four DOC files in
WORD; ten JPG files in my graphics editor for instance.

This has been lost following a recent automatic upgrade to XP.

How do I recover that facility?

Many thanks,

Robin Chapple

  Back-up or copy

In case of a computer problem why is a back-up program used instead of just
copying to a disk or external hard-drive?

  IE7

This is a continuation of a post on 3-7-08 with PA Bear.
Greetings: I just installed the new IE7 on my Dell Dimensions 2400. It
works, but not too well. It has slowed my computor down. When I click Start
it is several seconds before the menu appears. Sometime it will not appear at
all. When it does and I am able to open a program it will open partiatially
along with two or three other programs that I did not ask for. They are in
pieces. They will not close. Then I may get a box telling me the program is
not responding. I just put a new Seagate Hard Drive in for these same
reasons. I was advised by members of the Dell forum that the HD was the
culprit. It apparently was not. It appears IE7 is the culptit. It works
properly with IE6. I like IE7 and would like to keep it but not under...

  Hardware Monitor found an error

Author: Rainy
Date: Apr 5, 2008 04:24

Hi..this morning after waking up, I found my computer frozen, and was forced
to at first restart which let me to a screen that told me Hardware Monitor
found an error and to click F! to continue.. I was not able to get F1 to
respond, and after trying a couple of times to turn off my computer
manually, I was finally able to get to a screen where Chkdsk was checking
for errors.. it seemed to fix them, finding several minor errors and even an
error in a gif file. Can someone tell me if there is something I can do to
fix the problem or if chkdsk corrected the errors, and is everything ok
now??? :) sure hope so! Appreciate any response, thanks Rainy..
