Win XP SR2
4 errors I think I may be able to resolve if I could find the correct
procedures. After a lot of searching, however, I have failed. GUidance
please.
1 -- Services - When I select Dependencies for any service I get
"Interface: Class not registered." I have found how to register classes,
Where can I find the 'class' I need to register?
2 -- Windows update - When I get to the update page I can select either
Express or Custom. Regardless the one I choose, I am sent to a page
'Files required to use Windows Updates are no longer registered . . .'
I choose 'register' and am sent to a screen where (it appears) the files
are downloaded. Then it is back to the Express or Custom page, then
back to 'Files required . . .' - endlessly. How do I update XP?
3 -- Event ID 7026 'The following boot-start or system-start driver
failed to load.' Where can I find 'boot-start' or 'system-start' to
ensure the path to the driver is correct? Doesn't appear to be MSConfig
or the StartUp folder.
4 -- Event ID 7000 - 'WebCLient service failed to start due to . . .
account specified for this service is different from the account
specified for other services.' Where can I find the account used by ...

How do I get two machines to talk to each other?

Author: Don J

I've got two machines. One is running Windows XP. The other is running
Windows 2000. They are connected with an RJ45M partch cable. How do I get
the two machines to talk to one another? In particular how do I get the
Win'XP machine to send files to the Win'2000 machine?

Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message
separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just
fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to
see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the
newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message multiple
times instead of once (they would see it only once if you correctly
crossposted instead). This wastes everyone's time, and gets you poorer help
than you should get.

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please do so
by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Please see "What is the accepted way to share a message across multiple
newsgroups?" at http://smjg.port5.com/faqs/usenet/xpost.html

You can't format your C: drive from within Windows; you will need to format
the drive during the XP install

A "repair" installation of XP onto the C drive does not format that drive
nor will you lose any of your settings of that C xp installation.
You could after that do a manual delete of all XP files on the D drive and
then edit the Boot.ini file to reflect that you now have only one copy of
XP.
If you open start/run and type in "msconfig" under the boot.ini tab you can
click the "check all boot paths" it will verify that you only have one XP
installation.
The problem is that when you installed XP onto that D drive it changed the
master boot record to reflect that change. The boot files are in the root of
the C drive thats why the repair installation to correct that.

Hi

You will need to format the hard drive/partition using the XP CD - after
booting your computer with it. If you want to perform a 'Clean' install of
XP, please see the following article by Michael Stevens:

"Clean Install Windows XP "

same thing.
