Unistall Pro and go back to Home edition?

Author: John Q. Public
Date: Dec 19, 2007 20:37

I just got a new computer with XP pro installed. I thought it would be
like the home edition and allow me to install it on my other computer.
I was wrong. Apaprently only one computer can have it on
(Activation). So I'd like to unistall the pro vesion and go back to
the home edition. Is there a simple way to do that since Home was
already installed and I did the upgrade for pro?

Thanks

Problems with Xp Pro at Startup !Emergency!

Win Xp Professional
Pentium 4
1.80 GHZ
768 RAM
OEM

I have an odd problem... please bear with me.

This past summer I purchased this computer off ebay. It (was) a Great
computer for its age and it was neatly refurbished. Work fantastic. ( I
think it was a college campus computer) Anyways. I was aware of the
dangers of OEM products (had no extra software for OS) and played around
with the back up utilities that it contained which seemed to work out ok
but didnt seem to back up fully. Well recently I stumbled upon Norton
Ghost 10.0 ( thats where i went wrong someone said) Retail that was
supposed to be able to make a full clone of the OS, files, and settings
onto a new hard drive. I tried the product out and it appeared to do
the job. Exact copy was on new drive. I set the settings to "bootable
drive" and set the jumpers accordingly.

Restoring vista backup files to xp

Author: JerryBigOne

I recently upgraded to vista. I have backed up my files using vista. I have
subsequently gone back to XP. I have the vista backup files on removable
media and wish to view them and or copy them to folders on an XP system.
Vista is no longer available. Can someone tell me how to do this?

  IE6 has encountered a problem

Author: garik

IE has encountered a problem and needs to be closed for the last pair days
now. Some times it works right after the second start, sometimes it does
not.
I tried to use System Restore to go some days back but it does not start to
work after the date is chosen though Task Manager shows that process is
going.
I have Windows XP Home, antivirus and firewall. Any help will be
appreciated.

A Persistent Automatic Update -- How to Stop It?

Author: Steve Behman
Date: Dec 19, 2007 13:47

With automatic updates turned on I get an offer to install "security update
for Microsoft XMLCore Services". This has happened many times; each time I
click "install" and, obediently, I shut down the computer with the "turn off"
option.

Almost immediately after reboot the icon insisting that I install an update
(the same one) appears and I go through the same thing again!

Trust me, this is really getting tiresome. Does anyone know how I can stop
this?

By the way, I have uninstalled and reinstalled this program several times in
the hope that the offer to fix it would go away after the reinstallation and
update -- not even that works!

  XP time different than BIOS

Author: Darrell Shuman
Date: Dec 19, 2007 10:02

I have a XP Pro machine that when it reboots it loses the time and shows the
default of 12:00 am Jan 1 1601. The battery is good and the BIOS clock keeps
the correct time. Ran several spyware and virus programs and all come up
clean. Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.

It helps to mention details such as that in the original question.

Thanks for all the replies. The problem is that I can clone OS from drive to
drive but not partition to partition.

When you get the startup media list select to boot from the HDD then
immediately hit F8 again and that should get you into safe mode.
