My voice provider must still be in the dark ages since they don't offer DSL
to my area! My distance from fiber is right at 6 miles so I imagine they
would need maybe two stingers to get a good DSL connection out to my area!
My understanding is that just over two miles is the limit for a stable DSL
connection. I guess that part of living in rural areas!

If I have MS.net Framework 3.0 (57.76MB) installed, do I need MS.net
Framework 2.0 (88.54MB) installed also?

Hi all,
Whenever I do anything CPUI-intensive (such as compile a program), the
mouse momentarily gets to be something like 1000 times too sensitive
and disappears off to the corner of a screen - hard to find sometimes
especially when it happens a lot. I've checked the driver for updates
and it is already up-to-date. Any other ideas? I've change the mouse
too. Both are MS USB optical mice.

Hi:
Just wondering if any of you had downloaded and installed the new SP3. I
have heard so much good news about it that I would like to hear some first
hand comments.
Thanks

I'm finally ready to bite the bullet and do an OS reinstall.
I want to copy all of my c: drive files to another drive before I wipe the
drive and reinstall Win XP Pro. However, my c: drive is fat32 and the
destination drive is NTFS. I have tried to back up the drive using a couple
of different backup apps (in Windows) and just copying the folders but
thousands of files are skipped.
Is there a utility that I can run from a boot disk or boot CD that I can
use to copy c and all subdirectories to another HDD? Or, alternatively, is
there a procedure that I could use to accomplish the goal?
thanks

Greetings,
Well, I finally bit the bullet and created a dualboot system with both
98SE and XP on the same hard drive residing in individual partitions.
So far, so good. But I do have a question; can I delete the
pagefile.sys that the XP installation created on the 98SE drive? It is
a hundred million-kazillion MB's and seems like clutter to me since it
hasn't been accessed since the XP installation several days ago. I'm
assuming that it is XP's answer to .swp. Just wondering why XP needs
two pagefiles. Especially one residing in the 98SE root.
Also, with conservativeswapfileusage enabled in 98SE before the XP
installation, the swap file was nonexistent (1GB DDR). Is the
conservativeswapfileusage option available with XP. Just curious.
Thanks.

I don't know what causes it, but I've been getting the same error for
some time. There are, as far as I can find, no answers anywhere that
Google knows about. I fixed it each time by reloading a saved registry
- ERUNT is my Saviour for that. I think it's a particular software
installer that causes it, but haven't yet narrowed down which one. I
have grave suspicion (as yet unproved) that it's the recent Adobe
Acrobat Reader 8.1.1 that did it last night.
