resolved...hope this is OK.
In case this is helpful, today I noticed that Uninstall Information folder
and WindowsUpdate folder are both empty.

Can any one help. I have lost all my program bars in my task bar. I still
have my system bar and quick launch bar but have to navigate through open
programs using the Alt+Tab method. Does anyone know how to get them back.
Have tried adjusting the Task bar properties but to no avail.
Thanks

I am using Windows XP with all the server packs, etc. I set up a briefcase
on my notebook that connects to our server. I tried to open a few files on
my notebook and I get an error message saying the files cannot be found.
However, I can change those files on the server and update them in the
briefcase!? Also, I am able to open other files. I looked in the Windows
area for similar problems and this discussion group but did not find any!
Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,

Why is Adaware suddely incomaptible with OneCare? Just about two weeks ago I
began to get a warning, indicating that I should remove adaware because it
dangerously interferes with OneCare (up until then I had Adaware on my
computer for at least a year, with no "warning"). The red warning persisted
for a few days, so I uninstalled Adaware last week and relied on OneCare and
Spybot. On a hunch, I reinstallled Adaware yeaterday and found that after the
one week it had caught and identified 132 different bits of spyware...none of
which were detected by OneCare and Spybot combined. Of course, shortly
thereafter, the red warning reappeared in OneCare. What is the story here???

I have been using a vpn connection to my workplace for over a year now on XP
Pro. It has suddenly stopped working. Other workmates have experrienced
this same problem. We have 5 sites with static IP addresses and now cannot
connect to any of them. Is this a windows update problem by any chance? Any
ideas?

But then says "Windows already activated" and then reboots. To infinity.
I replaced the hard drive on my laptop recently and did a completely clean
install of XP SP2. The XP disk is the one that came from the manufacturer,
has the key already imbedded so you don't have to enter it manually, I guess
making it harder to mess up the entry, and this is the only computer that
key is used on. Obviously, it has been activated before, the first time it
was installed on this laptop. Has not been activated since. Well, until
now.
I couldn't get it to activate via the internet. And I have been way busy
with traveling for work, so it wasn't until the 30 day grace period was over
and it forced me to address the issue that I did anything.
Tried again to activate via the internet, with no success.
I generated an installation ID, and used the phone method. The tech support
guy couldn't get the installation ID to verify, so he had me generate a new
one. The new one worked, he read me the activation code, I entered it, I hit
next, and everything was great.
