Author: usb/1394 storage device blocked
Date: Dec 25, 2008 06:24

My sister is using windows xp home edition (dutch)
But since a few weeks she can't get acces to her flash drives.
I tryed my own storage device but i also can't get acces.
Windows does recognize the device, but a pop-up tells that the administrator
has forbidden acces to usb/1394 storage devices.

my question: where can i set this? already tryed it in user accounts. no
result
could it also be a virus? my scanner can't find anything.

Actually, that loops us back up to message #3 above. Updating the BIOS was
the first thing I tried, but that's a diskette I can't seem to find. And I
never did get a driver error message.

I think I'm dead in the water here. Thanks for all your help.

In the past two weeks I have had two workstation at our school get a virus or
a spyware that causes the desktop to have no icons or start menu. This is
also true if you boot into safe mode. I have tried the following and each
time my I wind up reloading windows but I will list the steps in hope someone
else has found the solution.
1. I have run both spyware checks and Antivirus checks which do find some
things but none resolve the issue.
2. Restore to a different time. Does not resolve the problem.
3. Run Windows Repair. Does not resolve the problem.
4. Remove the drive and scan with another system. Does not resolve the
problem.
5. I have tried using the links that the other users have tried Kelly’s' for
one.
None of the steps aside from wiping and reloading have worked. I would like...

  Windows Explorer Error

Author: DrMarsha
Date: Sep 21, 2008 13:40

Everytime I right click on any hard drive in My Computer, I get a Windows
Explorer error.....at first, I got a Data Execution Prevention error so I
configured the DEP to scan all Windows Files except for Windows Explorer.
Now, I get the Windows Explorer error every time...I have to force quit in
the Task Manager. I chatted with the Microsoft techs for over 8 hours on this
issue and they can't figure it out. It does not happen on any other folders
or applications...the only ones are in the My Computer, Hard Drive,
area...any thoughts?

the steps I must take to get the icons to appear.)

1. I hit ctrl-alt-del which opens the windows task manager, it is also blank.
2. Then I close the task manager and my icons appear and the computer finish
loading.

My OS is Win XP Pro Ser Pack 3

I hope I got the correct discussion group

Thanks in advance....

  Handwriting is "Broken"

While I can "install" the Handwriting in Windows XP/MS Office, it doesn't
really install. Only Drawing Pad actually works. I've read that SP3
'breaks" it, any fix?
