Mail that works for XP and vista

Author: Kate

I am trying to help a friend who uses both xp and vista. They are used
to OE but I know vista did away with it for Windows mail. They use
multiple addresses and identities. I hate to have them learn another
program when their office system must remain OE. Any suggestions.

On the "contacts" screen toolbar, the choices to "add new contact" and "add
new contact group" have disappeared. How do I get them back?

Import from Outlook in Vista to Windows Mail in Vista

In Windows Mail I clicked Import>Outlook and then got an error message saying
"Messages cannot be imported from MAPI Client. MAPI is not installed as
this computer or an error occurred while initializing." I don't know what
MAPI is, but if it has to do with a server, I don't have one and don't want
one.

How do I use Windows Mail only for newsgroups?

Author: Gary Clarke
Date: Dec 26, 2008 09:11

I currently use Outlook 2003 (SP3) for all my e-mail needs and I also use
the calendar and contact features. I find this to be very convenient since I
also use Outlook 2003 at work. I've started to browse the Microsoft
newsgroups because I find that I'm being presented with new projects at work
and I find myself browsing for answers. At home I've found that I can use
Windows Mail (that comes with Vista) to browse newsgroups and I find it much
easier to use this interface as opposed to the web based option. (I used to
use Outlook Express years ago, so I'm used to using newsgroups in this
fashion.)

My main concern is how to ensure the Windows Mail leaves my e-mail alone as
I'd prefer Outlook to handle my e-mail (et al).

What options do I need to enable/disable to ensure that Windows Mail leaves
my e-mail alone but allows me to use the newsgroups fully in terms of
posting questions, answers and comments

My thanks to anyone who is able to help.

I can't figure out how to direct incoming mail for peabrain1 to peabrain's
mail box instead of the inbox. Can it be done?
