i have two laptops. one toshiba with vista busines and one macbook with vista
ultimate.
both are widescreen
on toshiba, RON T&P runs in widescreen mode. on macbook, when i installed xp
sp2, RON did run wide screen. but now i have vista and RON doesnot run wide
screen. it runs in a 4:3 resolution of 1024x768. there are no other
resolutions listen in the options either.
can anyone tell me why this is the case...that its runs wide screen on one
vista machine but not on another? i have the latest boot camp version (read
vista drivers for macbook) installed.
any solutions?

I run a computer with a 30" Dell monitor, using an Nvidia 8800GTX card &
latest drivers, 4 gb ram and Vista Ultimate 64 bit. If I run Vista at a
desktop resolution of 2460 x 1600 (the native resolution of the monitor) I
find the fonts generally to be too small so I go to Control Panel -
Personalization, Personalize appearance and sound, Adjust font size (DPI)
and adjust the DPI setting to 150%%. Everything is cool. However, if I try to
go higher, to, say 200%%, then I find that many games won't work properly.
For example, World of Warcraft gets to the start up screen but the font
cursor remains stuck in the center of the screen, for Assassin's Creed it
gets by the initial publishers, etc. splash screens and then goes black
while the sound continues normally. If I change the DPI setting back...

I am having the same problem as others purchasing a brand new system and
32-bit Vista OS in that the standard games that came with Vista are running
in software rendering mode, which results in them playing extremely slow (eg
moving a card in solitaire takes 1-2 seconds). The system also identifies a
base number of 1.0 for games, and requires 2.0 to play them adequately.
My systems specs are:
Intel E7200 2.53 GHz
500GB HD
512 MB Nvidia 8800
3BG DDR2 RAM
My system is only 2 weeks old, and this is really frustrating because the
scores for everything else the system does are at least 5.4.
Can anybody assist with how I can change the system to not run in software
rendering mode, or with any other suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Susan

recently purchased Gears of War and a few other games, Crysis, Helgate
London, Orange Box etc..
All of the other games runs fine on my PC, but Gears of War crashes at the
start up splash screen after you click on the play button
The error message is "Gears of War has stopped working" then it collects
info to call home to Microsoft
I have not had the game successfully start up at all.
I reinstalled it to no avail
I downloaded the GOW updates but that does not resolve the issue at all
I cannot get past the splash screen...
I tried to us Microosft support but they are asking for a PID, and I cannot
get the PID because I cannot get into the game at all, and I will not pay
the
cost of the game for support
I get the same crash message when I both windows without loading any of the
non essential services and no startup programs so it's not an antivirus
issue
This is the info from Vista Problem Reports and Solutions

Nostalgic moments of going back to AOE2. :D Too bad I cannot seem to
play multiplayer LAN with my friends.
Currently I have 3 Windows XP PC/Laptops, 1 Vista. I have googled, read
most of TechArena's tips and helps. But still no good. All my WinXP
machines can connect fine. But not Vista.
PROBLEMS:
- WinXP created game. Vista can join, but ALL XP machines cannot
receive information from Vista machine. So if they change group number,
new civs or whatever, or click READY, XP machine doesn't register
anything
- Vista created game. XP tries to join but hangs at the "Joining Game"
screen. Have to press ESC to cancel.
- So problem is XP cannot receive information from Vista. Vista cannot
seem to "access" XP either.

Whenever I try to open Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds it just says
"Could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your video card
and driver are compatible with DirectDraw"
Okay, I got that fixed. But now there's a different problem. All the
graphics look like it's night time. Very messed up.
I'm running Windows Vista, 64 bit, in a laptop with an Intel X3100
graphics card.

By specs they mean what make is the computer, how much RAM does it have
installed what video card do you have or is it onboard graphics what is
the processor, is it AMD or Intel.
What version of Vista are you running and is it 32 bit or 64 bit.
Hope that makes it a little clearer for you and gives you a better idea
of what they are asking ;)
