Server 2008 - TS Web Disconnects on Wireless

Author: NickW
Date: Dec 26, 2008 10:15

Our company uses Server 2008 TS Web with Remote Apps. Users login and launch
an app such as Excel, Outlook, etc. At first we had few or no problem with
people staying connected. Then, after about a week or two, more and more
people are experiencing periodic disconnects (2-3 times per hour) from the
server. KeepAlive is already set on the server. To my knowledge this is only
happening when using WiF
--Ethernet connections to a router or modem rarely
(if ever) disconnect. The users are spread geographically across the country,
so it isn't a single network. The sessions usually reconnect after a few
seconds, but sometimes not (requiring a reboot and/or manually logging of the
user from the server). Any ideas?

  Steady State on Terminal Server

Author: JSmith
Date: Dec 24, 2008 10:17

Our local library has a Windows 2003 Server running terminal server with 9 HP
T5135 thin client computers.

I have configured the users using Microsoft Steady State (yes, I know it is
not meant to run under Windows 2003 - although I am not sure why).

Every day the server is locking up in the early afternoon. I have checked
the event logs and the only thing I find is an application hang message for
Internet Explorer 7 at adress 0x00000000.

Two questions:

1) Does anyone have any ideas why IE is hanging at that address every day?

2) Why can't I run steady state? This is the perfect environment for it, 9
thin clients under terminal services.

Thanks,
J. Smith

What exactly is it you're trying to do, and why? There may be another way to
accomplish it.
You should use the GP setting to grant the Administrators group permission
to all profiles, btw.

Remote Access to Windows 2008 ?

Author: Patrick
Date: Sep 23, 2008 04:09

We just install our first Windows 2008 Server. We find that when we use RDP
to access it, it works as remote access (we haven't used /admin option).

From the web, we learn that Windows 2008 supports 2 active session if TS is
not installed. If it is true, we wonder why RDP session is a Console
Session.

Your advice is sought.

  Home directiories and folder redirection

hope someone can enlighten me here as i'm quite new to Terminal servers

Is rootdrv2.cmd still valid in Citrix. If so do you still have to set it on
every TS. I thought that TS home drive Group policy setting would now be the
preferred opion.

Leading on with the next question

If users have their home drives mapped in ADUC say to H drive, is there a
point in setting up TS home drive as the users would surely have 2 locations
to keep their documents in??.
My take is if they used pure TS then use the TS home drive
If I mixture of 2 then Bothe ADUC home drives and TS Home drives but
redirect theTS Home drive to the Users Home Directory

Finally AppData - do you redirect it or not?? When would and wouldn't you?

I am trying to figure out the best way but am confusing myself.. Help..
