Our 300 GB external backup harddrive ran full (someone had dumped 30 GB
into one of the shared folders), causing yesterdays backup to fail. I took
the drive off, and replaced it with a 500 GB one. Backup space has been
steadily declining over time anyways, space just ran out in 3 days instead
of 2 months like first projected.
The drive was formatted, and mounted as drive Z. The backup folder on the
drive was re-created on the drive to match the old one. This way we don't
have to change the backup settings.
After the drive went online, I keep getting this error in the mail:
The following disk is low on free disk space. Low levels of free disk space
can cause performance problems and prevent users from saving files on the
disk.
Drive Letter: HarddiskVolume6
Free Disk Space: 0.000000. MB
%% Free Disk Space: 0.000000.%%
Of course it won't tell me which one it considers volume6, and the new
drive is listed as Drive 2 in Storage Manager. For now, I changed the alert
to watch drive D instead, because that's where all our shared folders are,
and as far as I can tell, no alert was setup to monitor that.
But then this morning, I didn't get the daily performance report. Normally
this gets mailed after 4 in the morning, when the daily backup is complete.
Only thing I can find in the logs that has to do with the log is this:
Event Type: Information

found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information
or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and
Support for details. The following information is part of the event: .
I've tried googling for Event ID 2004, but ended up with nothing... It's
done this before, performance report stops being sent, then after a couple
days it starts mailing it again...
