Upgrading from SBS 2003 R2 pri. edition to Win2003 ASAP

Author: S
Date: Jul 9, 2008 21:09

Hi

I need to Upgrade from SBS 2003 R2 pri. edition to Win2003 std edition, with
SQL and Exchange on diffrent s

Is it possible without creating a new domain?

I tried in test area to install sbs 2003 and add a new win2003 server. I run
dcpromo to the 2003 server new dc in the same domain.

I moved the ROLES with ntdsutil to the new dc. and then after moving the
mailboxes and uninstall exchange I run the dcpromo on the sbs server. the
system is up for 1 week.

Is it OK? Does microsoft support that kind of solution?

Than'x
Shay

Add New servers to an existing active directory domain.

Author: Len Turner
Date: Jul 9, 2008 17:43

A vendor is installing Microsoft CRM, Project server, Sharepoint server and
SQL server on two new servers running MS Server Standard 2008.

They want us to have our existing SBS 2003 server acting as our domain
controller and active directory and file and print and exchange.

The other servers are going to act as an applications server (for
sharepoint, project amd CRM and the other will act as a database server (SQL)

I have the servers up and running but I am unsure of how to add them to our
network - any assistance would be gratefully recieved.

  RDC To some pc's

Author: ben

Hi. I have a problem that came up about two days ago with RDC to certain
pc's. I have been running SBS2003 SP2, OWA, RWW with out a hitch. Then all
of a sudden RDC to certain pc's won't work. Get Error: " Client could not
connect, too busy, network problems, try again later" in short. I can RDC
locally and publicly (WAN) to the SERVER and a COUPLE of pc's through RWW.
This tells me the router is still configured properly with ports and such. I
can ping server from trouble pc's and visa versa. What in the world could
have happened or changed? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Remote assistance will not launch. Please help

System. Windows 2003 SBS standard SP2 all patches up to date.

I have a strange problem where I can’t get remote assistance to launch on
this system. The problem seems to be that the remote assistance application
will not start. I see the problem regardless of which side makes the request.

Note I’ve been trying to debug this with systems that are local to the lan.
I can get other machines to remote assist each other so the problem is not
anything to do with port mapping. It is simply that for some reason the
remote assistance application will not start on the SBS system.

In all of these examples the user on the sbs machine is the administrator.

WebAdmin popup accessing a website on on itnternal network

Author: Perry
Date: Jul 9, 2008 14:17

Running SBS 2003 SP2, IIS is setup with default website, plus one additional
website that is available from the Internet. When trying to access this
website internally, an authentication window pops up, saying the server
xyz.com at WebAdmin requires a username and password. I am not able to get
around this trying by supplying user/pw or domain/user/pw.

I have added host header values in IIS for xyz and xyz.com on the internal
IP address but it doesn't make a difference. The host header values setup
for access externally work fine.

What do I need to do to make this work?

  POP3 error

I have 1 user who is not able to get his e-mails. We are using the POP3
connector and everyone other than him can receive e-mails with no problems. I
have setup up a test account in Outlook and can retrieve with no problems.
The event viewer is showing a "10060" error. I have deleted the pop3 mailbox
and recreated it with no luck.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Problems Receiving Email into SBS Exchange

Author:

Hi everyone,
I've recently installed and configured a server with SBS2003 Standard edition plus all the updates and patches etc and I'm now working my way down a very small list of known problems, trying to fix each one as I go.

To the best of my knowledge I've configured the Internet & Email Configuration wizard correctly and I can send out test emails from within the network accounts to addresses outside the network, for example my Hotmail & Yahoo accounts and the mail is received just fine, but when I send a test email from any of these email accounts (Hotmail or Yahoo) to a user inside the SBS network, the mail is not arriving and no message is received to indicate what the problem may be (at least not yet anyway).

Is there anything else that I should configure on the SBS box to allow external email to come into the network and be delivered to the correct user? I can send email from one user to another user inside the network just fine so I know all of the internal email accounts are setup and working properly, they just don't seem to be able to receive external email at the moment and I'm not quite sure why.

If anyone can offer any suggestions or if something is glaringly obvious that I may have missed, I really would be very grateful of your feedback - I only have a few small issues that I'm trying to resolve and everything else is working great.

Many thanks in advance
Wayne

My customer is reporting that the following error message has recently
started popping up (within the last week). Prior to this, all the messages
were being sent and received by the recepient correctly.

What can I do about this. I searched Google without any helpful results.

It is important that this recepient be able to receive our emails.

We are using SBS 2003 R2 with all the latest service packs and Exchange
