I've got a new client that wants me to set up a new server for them
using SBS 2003 R2. Their current SBS 2003 server has Exchange
running. The database size appears to be near 18GB. However, there
are a couple of the packrat owners that have 4-6GB mailboxes.
Any recommendations on how to handle for the new server? I'm sure
they are going to want all that mail transferred over.
I've always used a 2GB rule of thumb and havent had users go much
beyond that.
Isn't there a total DB size limit as well?
Not quite sure how to approach this so any opinions are greatly
appreciated.
Thanks much.

I realize that SBS does not have option to bridge two NIC's together,
what's exactly i need to do to get OpenVPN server running on this
machine.
So, i've read it's possible to make it "route" between two LAN's, i
tryed with Routing and Remote Access but could not get it working.
Here's my network layout

Hi,
We've have an windows 2003 sbs sp2 server.
With have some performances issues when shadow copy runs.
So i've add an extra copy at 20.00, removed the one from 07.00 and 12.00.
Strange thing is that it still runs at 07.00 and 12.00.
(drive c:)
Is there an registry-entry or something that i have to deleted so it don't
runs at those times.

We have a SBS 2003 server that is running low on disk space on the C:\
partition. The server is configured as follows:
C:\ 15 GB Total - 75 MB Free Space [Windows Program Files]
D:\ 50 GB Total - 19 GB Free Space [Downloads and Source CDs]
E:\ 158 GB Total - 57 GB Free Space [Shared Documents, Client Apps,
Exchange, SQL Server]
The largest files on the C:\ partition appear to be logfiles located in
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 at 2.94GB. These log files take the form
exyymmdd.log and are titled "Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0".
On July 12 2008, I created a new "Log Files" folder on the E:\ partition and
using the IIS MMC redirected the log files for the default web site to the
new folder. New logs are now being added to this new folder while the same
folder on the C:\ partition has stopped growing.
My question is this - have I taken the right approach? I'm not certain what
these log files are used for but they appear to replicate Exchange
transaction logs. Have I corrupted them by moving them in the manner
described. What harm would come from deleting them, or moving them entirely
to the D:\ partition?

Well, after all these years of using GFI to filter spam, to train it to
work for customers types of emails, I've decided to not use it any more.
It's no secret that I would choose WatchGuard firewalls over any other
if it was left to me, I've used them for at least 7 years or more
(memory gets bad as I get older) and have not had any real issues with
them.
Because I've been using GFI over Symantec Mail Security, ORF and others,
and had been real happy with them, I had not really implemented
SpamFilter with WG at many locations - 11 locations with WG SF, the rest
with GFI.
We changed our firewall out last month and moved to a x1250e with all
UTM services and decided to implement SF while keeping the GFI services
running - we disabled the blocking and just prepended the subject with
GFI xxx where xxx was the GFI detection rule/service that caught it. GFI
would mark some items that made it through, but they were false
positives (even though I would like to call them spam, some users wanted
those types of messages). So, it appeared that the UTM SF was doing a
better job and I can release ANY detected Spam/Bulk/Suspected to the
users or they can (since it sends them an email - as does GFI).....

Unfortunately, I did not write down the 2 patches numbers, I believe it
was KB951748 & KB951746. The error is valid on SBS 2003 only, the rest of
the servers are fine with the same patch.
Error description: once the server rebooted, it could no longer connect
to the network.
The removal fixed the issue. Seems like a DNs issue,
since upon reboot after removal I had to convert the login script to
connect to IP rather then server name (\\192.168.28.1\share), probably
until the cache is fixed. Anyone?

certsrv.exe (2040) The backup has been stopped because it was
halted by the client or the connection with the client failed.
I'm seeing this error every night on one server only and this is exactly the
time that the backup (NTBackup - full) starts. The backup completes error
free.
I've reregistered sqlvdi.dll
Any ideas, please?

Hello Everybody,
I'm running Windows Small Business Server Premium 2003 R2 and I just
went through ISA (2004) settings to remove the SSL Certificate (self
signed) and start the setup process for a new SSL Certificate (from an
outside provider). I saw firewall settings which showed a network map
which did not look like what our network actually is. So, I changed the
map to a pre-defined map which looks like our network. Now users are
having difficulties accessing shared folders and shared applications (on
the server) from their workstations. No backups available (new
installation [< 1 week], backup scheduling is my next task). Please help.
Thanks,
Fred
