Hi NG,

I've added a new Domain Controller (on a new W2k8 64bit server) to my
exisiting DC's (all W2K3 32bit servers).
After recommended "adpreps" and adding the AD DS role and the DNS role in
server manager, then executing dcpromo.exe and last moving the 5 FSMO roles
(RID,PDC,Ifs, SM, DNM) to the new W2k8 DC, this all works fine.
But when then popup the Dialog "change domain controller..." in "Server
Manager-> Roles->Active Directory Domain Services->Active Directory User and
Computers" the status of the new DC is "not available". The status of all
other W2K3 DC's are "online"!
How can I change the status of the new W2k8 DC to "online"?

If you have a shutdown script that cleans up the profiles, all you need is
something to restart the computers. Perhaps a scheduled task with sufficient
permissions can restart (or shutdown) all computers in a list remotely. For
example, to shutdown the computers:

Hello,

When using WLM, I am having trouble getting a Contact Property to
display all the fields. I've been searching for the past 3 days, but
nothing
seems to work. If anyone knows the proper LDAP attribute name,
and format, can you please post it.

I was also wondering if there is any way to customize the mapping of the
LDAP attributes to the individual fields. Can you map the 'Company Name'
field to a different LDAP attribute other then 'o'. If so, how?

hello,
I started working at a site with win2k3 and AD.
From what I can tell it's running very poorly.
Lots of DNS errors, 2 bdc and 1 pdc but this is so corrupt it doesn't
respond to pings.

there is a term server running with another server with sql 2000 for a
business app. All servers are corrupt (usual problem with windows
systems), one worse than the other 2. the PDC is totally shot. PDC
running exchange but mail server has no important mails so I can erase
this and start over again.

There are about 40 users.

Is there any way to save the logins being used and rebuild a server with
a new AD using same name as before or is it better to just start over
again and keep it clean?

This office also has 2 remote locations connected via IPSEC vpn on
routers. Remote offices authenticate to main office but network
performance is VERY slow/poor.
