Actually both. The default WDM driver model for XP has a mixer line called
"Stereo Mix" as just about all sound card hardware has this loopback
ability. Anyone basing their driver off of this model usually inherited
the feature more or less for free. The Vista model doesn't have this, and
AFAIK ATM Creative has the only working drivers with this feature - where
as before on XP any AC97 derived system had it.
