Hi People,
what tool/how do I generate database diagrams/schematics for a sql 2000 db?
I need to see tables, relationships etc.
I only have Enterprise Manager at present.
thank you.

NJS,

Using Enterprise Manager, expand your database details, select the Diagrams
entry, right-click, choose New Database Diagram... and go to work.

Bad news is that this diagram is not particulary printable. If you also have
Visio or some such simple diagramming tool, you will probably have a better
experience in creating diagrams and printing copies for other people to use.
Although, it would be strictly offline from the database.

Thanks Russel,
Maybe I should have mentioned this first, but I tried that before I posted
the question (as there are more than 80 tables the output is almost useless).
I was actually looking for a 'useful' / third-party automatic, zoomable,
sectionable schematic generator, that has the smarts to lay out the tables,
and indicate relationships. Do you know of anything?
cheers.

NJS,

Sorry, I did not understand your intent. There are several that you can
check out for free, to see if they meet you needs and your price points.

www.SmartDraw.com
www.Embarcadero.com
http://www.quest.com/Toad-Data-Modeler/
http://www.conceptdraw.com/en/products/cd5/ap_er_diagram.php
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/downloads/entity_relationship_diagram_softwar.../

Et cetera.

I used to use ErWin and have used Visio as well in an earlier incarnation.
