Installing SQLServer 2005 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4

I am getting a strange error when I try to install SQLServer 2005 on a
Win2000 Advanced Server SP4. After going through the pre-requisites and
getting to the Location/Disk Cost screen no matter which drive I choose to
install on I am told there is not enough room. The C drive does not have
enough room for the install but the other drives have far more than enough
room to install on. It doesn't seem to matter which drive I choose for the
installation when I click on the Disk Cost button it always shows that the C
drive does not have enough room.
Am I missing something? Other than choosing an installation drive that has
enough room (and I have done that several times) I don't see what else I can
change?
Any help would be appreciated!

Robman,
you probably dont want to hear this but you are going to have to free up
space on C: or resize the C partition. (Several tools to do this) We ended up
in this same qualm back in the days when 8Gb for the OS partition was our
standard. We have now moved that up to 16GB standard. I have tried every
way as yourself but there is a part of the install that installs to the C:
partion that you cannot get around. Hopefully this is fixed in future
versions though I cannot confirm that.
Thanks,
Mike

Ouch - you are correct in that I don't want or need to hear that!
At this point I don't know what I will do since I cannot free up enough
space to do the job!
Thanks for the reply!

For a detailed addition to MikeM' s comment, I'll suggest you to see the
following link from BOL which describes which components' installation paths
are reconfigurable and which are fixed (fixed means they are going to be
installed on your root drive, probably C:)
