We have received a new server with Windows Server 2003 R2 preinstalled , I
have tried to install SQL Server 2000 in this system but all the
installations had failed , there is a dialog box saying that SQL Server 2000
is not compatible with the current operating system ; I choose continue , I
can insert some data like server name , sa password , etc and then the
installations suddenly stops .
What can I do to install sql server 2000 in this system , I search on the
internet and I have found that sql server 2000 is not compatible with
windows server 2003 sp1 , That I should install windows server 2003 first ,
then sql server and then sql server service pack 1 , I have read that windows
server 2003 already contains service pack 1 , so if I reinstall the operating
system how can I...

Hello Hank , I cannot install SQL server 2000 Standard Edition on Windows
Server 2003 R2 (The server without any service packs) .
When I try to install SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition on the machine there
is a message that states that Sql Server is not compatible with the operating
system but that I can continue with the installation , after that I click on
"Continue" and then the installation continues asking me for some information
(name , organization , sa password , etc) after that the installation stops
and nothing happens .
I had tried to install sp2 , sp3 (Service packs of sql server 2000) and It
shows me that the service packs can´t be installed because the product (SQlL
server 2000 ) is not installed .

Hello , the issue is solved :
In Windows Server 2003 R2 -> Control Panel -> Regional settings and
language -> Advanced Options , The language selected must be English -
United States ; I made this change and the installation was successsful .
