Hi,
We just upgraded our SMS 2003 SP3 single server site to SCM 2007 R2.
It created a SMSSIG$ folder on a storage area network volume that is
scheduled to be repurposed and we need to move the share without
fouling up the SCM 2007 R2 installation.
How can this be done nondestructively?
Thanks in advance,
DwightH

I have inherited an SMS 2003 setup. My problems are at least 2. First, our
clients have all moved to Vista, This installation of SMS will not recognize
them. I installed the recommended updates to bring it to R2 level, which I
believed were the solution to the Vista recognition problem.
My domain is 2003 forest and domain level, the DC holding FSMO roles is
server 2003, although I have installed both a member server and another DC
with Server 2008 OS's.
I could move to SCCM, but that brings in an addition learning curve,
software costs and equipment and change over to 64 bit set of problems that
I am not ready to suffer through, yet.
Any suggestions on documentation or OJT experiences that can help me through
these problems?

The web page that describes how to install the Application Virtualization
client for use with SCCM
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512024.aspx
has a link to "Microsoft Application Error Reporting" information, but this
link instead points to a Plugin for IE 8 beta. I was unable to find any
articles that describe how to install Microsoft Application Error Reporting,
but it is probably worth mentioning that the MSI for this component is
located in the App-V download. When you decompress the App-V Zip file
DW20SHARED.MSI can be found at CLIENT\SUPPORT\WATSON. Someone on the SCCM
2007 documentation team should get this fixed up.

We currently have an NT Domain and were instructed by management to setup an
SMS site for: inventory collection, software distribution, and access to the
workstations remotely.
The site roles, boundaries were configured, but it seems like the DDR's
aren't being created during the discovery phase. Network Discovery was
configured as follows: Topology, client, and client operating system, Subnets
(search local subnets is checked off), Local Domain was included, no SMNP and
SNMP devices, No DHCP (as we're using non-Microsoft DHCP servers).
It's odd because some of the devices from the local subnet were indeed
discovered, but anything outside of that isn't populating the all systems
queries.
I've attach a portion of the netdisc.log and see if anyone out there sees
anything out of the ordinary [any assistance would be greatly appreciated]:
SMS_EXECUTIVE started SMS_NETWORK_DISCOVERY as thread ID 5680 (0x1630).

Have a new installation of SCCM 2007 sp1 no previous sms existed. Right now I
have 2 primary sites parent/child setup and a secondary site separated by a
WAN. The parent/child primaries communicate with no issues but the secondary
site does not appear on it's parent. I installed via the SCCM CD directly on
the secondary no errors showed up. I have have the secondary in the boundary
of the parent server. I even tried creating a sender address manually but the
secondary shows up as BOS -Unknown so I know it's not working.
I have the sender logs on each pc but I am not seeing anything that to me
appears to be a error.
I have put the servers as admin in each other's local admin groups
No firewall between servers.
Each server can ping the other
I didn't want to install over the wan and push from the primary unless i
have to.

Hi,
I've got the following site setup:
-Single 2003 AD Forest
-approx 30 offices
-Single Primary (Central) running SCCM 2007 SP1
-Approx 10 Secondary Sites (with their own AD Sites and Subnets assigned)
running SCCM 2007 SP1
-Approx 10 Remote sites with BDP's (with AD Sites but no Subnet assigned as
they are configured to use the Head Office's Infrastructure)
The boundary configuration on the Secondary sites is okay, the sites are
setup correctly in Active Directory Sites and Services and have subnets
assigned to them.
The sites that have BDP's do not have other local infrastructure (AD DC /
DNS etc) located at them so their AD Site is the same as the head office
where there is local infrastructure.
I prefer to use Active Directory sites to define boundaries whereever
possible but I think that this is not possible in this case for all sites as
the following situation exists:

We have 2 SMS central sites on different domains under the same
forest. Clients on Site A appear to be pulling the correct Default MP
for Site A, but also seem to be pulling the Local MP from Site B which
is incorrect. Anyone have a clue how I can prevent this? Entries in
the AD System Management container on both domains appear correct.

Hello, I have had the misfortune of losing our sms server and am in the
process of rebuilding the sms 2003 server. I have to do a complete new
install... no problem my question is do I leave the old clients as they are,
get the sms server to find all the pc's and then push out the new client. Or
should I run ccmclean.exe /all /q on each computer, if so is there a script
around to run this command on startup? I have not being able to run this out
my GPO, it requires an administrator equivalent logon which I am not able to
enter in the parameters. Anyways, any help or discussion would be
appreciated. thanks so much...
