Does anyone know how to hide the dot files when using the SFU NFS
client? This works great, I just don't want users to "accidentally"
delete their important Unix files!

Hi all,
I have set up a domain controller (w2k3 standard) with active directory and
installed the sfu 3.5.
I migrate a list of users from our old nis to the new windows nis.
Anything is up and running, login from unix works.
The only problem is that if a user changes his password on the windows side,
the password is not synchronized with the nis.
If I go to the attribute editor, the msSFU30Password is always the default
key ABCD!efgh12345$67890.
Any idea how I can get this working?
Thanks,
Marcus

Hi,
I searched on the Web already but I didn't find an answer to this.
With SFU 3.5 installed, you get a new network provider "NFS Network" in
"My Network Places/Entire Network" in Windows Explorer, which allows to
discover servers sharing NFS shares on your network.
With the new NFS network client integrated into Vista Ultimate/Enterprise
and 2008, there appears to be no such functionality anymore. When
opening the "Network" window and the network discovery is switched on,
you get a list of all SMB server, but there's no more "Entire Network",
nor, of course, "NFS Network".
Is there any way in Vista/2008 to get this discovery option back?
Thanks,
Corinna

Is there any known issue for SFU 3.5 and MSiSCSI?
We have a windows 2003 server. It worked fine until we added an
extrnal iSCSI storage (EMC AX150) where we moved all the home
directories (windows and unix). What happens is that each time we
reboot the server (for maintenance) we get a blue screen. After many
crashes I've managed to see that if the iSCSI cable is attached in we
have a blue screen. Better: if the iSCSI cable is attached in AND the
NSFserver is enabled to start, we have the BSOD.
by the way: how do I know which hotfixes came out for a specific MS
service, such as MSNFS for example?
thanks.

I installed Windows Services for UNIX Version 3.5.
I decided to use group and password file and I make NFS share by
selecting the NFS Sharing tab from the Properties page using Explore and
I add IP that I add full priviliges.
On a client machine:
net use k: 192.168.181.139:/nfsshare
The command completed successfully.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>k:
K:\>mkdir uu
Access is denied.
So simply on a Windows machine I need to export NFS share and access to
it from other machine (Windows also) - how to do it (step by step)?

Can I restrict the ports that IDMU uses for it's server for NIS
function? I'm having REAL trouble with my firewall, and I DON'T want
to use Allow All Any/Any TCP and UDP.
If not, does anyone know of any specific ports I could open to make
this work?

Is it possible to change the port that NFS (2049) is listening on? We have a
requirement to change the port for NFS to a privileged port (< 1024). If
it's possible how will it be done? I changed the services file and rebooted
the server, and the NFS was still listening on port 2049.
Thanks.
